Haven't been cafe hopping as much lately because I was getting a little bored with cafe food. However I was glad to have tried this cheesy rye toast topped with scrambled egg whites and salsa (only $10++!). Just look at that mountain of egg whites, and I loved the sharp strong cheese used. Egg white dishes usually cost a whole lot more (e.g Jones @ Dempsey), but this was so affordable and hit all the right spots. Skip the truffle fries though. It was boring and we weren't sure if there was any truffle oil in it.

The Wild Rocket Beef Burger (cannot remember the price, about $20), consisting of 180g beef patty, topped with sun-dried tomato relish, sarawak pepper cream and of course, rocket leaves. No need for add-ons like cheese, mushrooms or bacon, this simple burger was good enough on its own. This was probably one of the juciest burger I ever had.

Quite an average dish, with an interesting addition of curried macademia nuts. The bread could be more toasted, and they should leave the butter out or on the side. And I waited 35 minutes for this 😑. Price okay, taste so-so, wait time, nope.

It was relatively empty, no crowds, no queue, with the server opening the door for us though we were still a good ten metres away. This eggs benedict with smoked salmon ($26++) was not quite the same as the usual version. Firstly, they use sous vide eggs instead of poached eggs, which ensured that the yolks were perfectly runny. Instead of english muffin, some sort of spongey cake-like muffin was used as well. Though I still prefer a toasty and crisp English muffin, this alternative was able to soak up the yolky goodness extremely well! Loved this!

This was so savoury with the salty cheese with the smoked ham, but oh so good. Go for the Croque Madame for a fried egg on top.

This was the Mediterranean Flatbread ($18++ iirc), which was sous vide chicken breast and a sunny side up on the flat bread, served with a few pieces of cauliflower and curried cauliflower fritter on the side. The sous vide chicken breast was excellent, super tender and had the same spiced flavour as the cauliflower fritter. I love the fritters but they could be more generous with it. The let down of this dish was the flatbread, which turned really hard and chewy as the dish cooled down.

This breakfast burger ($20++) was the perfect recovery food (all macronutrients checked!). Omelette, apple and pork patty, cheese, spinach and tomato all sandwiched between an English breakfast muffin, and served with crispy roasted potatoes and cherry tomatoes. This was filling that I couldn't finish it even after a race.

Linguine allo scoglio (can you tell that I love my seafood and linguine?), a classic seafood pasta tossed in a spicy tomato sauce with grana padano cheese. The spicy tomato sauce was not spicy at all, but it was rich and full of flavours of the sea. The cheese also added depth to the sauce, and the pasta was truly al dente. There is also a tom yum version of this which may possibly be more spicy.

Anyway Rise&Grind makes really good poached eggs which were the perfect amount of runny, and I think they use free range or organic eggs because their egg yolks always had that deep golden colour.
