Finally got to try the one Michelin Star ramen import from Japan! Luckily for us, there was only a short 10 minute wait when we arrived at 620pm.

The entrance is at the front left corner of pacific plaza, outside of the mall. You make your order at the digital screen, get your add ons and drinks as well. Pay before you sit, like the classic ramen shops in Japan!

All seats are at the counter, you can see the chef in action! We were very lucky and got to sit right in front of the plating and noodle station. The noodle master takes the neatly packed white soba noodles from a wooden box, and drops it into the u shaped sieve sitting in the boiling water. He gives it several nice tugs before he places the cooked noodles in the bowl of soup. The other kitchen staff adds chashu, the delicious onsen tamago, thinly shaved onion and mint leaves on top of the noodles! Just so you know, one piece of chashu is really big. And the other option for four pieces seems too much, but you can get just one or two extra in the add on menu.

Delicious dinner at Akitmitsu vivo city. No queue at 6:30pm on Wednesday! Total wins.

My sister got the ebi ten-don (tempura prawn) and i got the signature tendon (prawns, white fish, brinjal, sweet potato, long bean, corn, mushroom, runny egg). Comes with free miso soup, chawanmushi, and rice - all for a cheap price of $14.90+! We also added a matcha ice cream puff for $2.90. Lots of food. Be sure to add lots of tempura sauce on the rice and tempura, otherwise can be quite dry. The spicy ebi was just lots of jap spice powder, preferred it without. My favorite tempura was the white fish - very surprising because I don’t like cooked fish usually. Chawanmushi was also good. And tempura egg was great with the rice but didn’t have much crispy batter.

In general, the tempura had flavor but some batter was soggy. So only some bits had a good crunch. They should serve it like some tempura places in Japan, separately on a net where the oil can drip off... #tempura #gooddeals

Definitely a great deal for the price - with whichever main you order, you can get free flow appetizers. The selection is impressive! There’s corn tofu (flavorful but need to get used to the texture), takoyaki, cheese fondue, soba, fried pumpkin, fried sweet potato.. and if you add $2.90, you get free flow drinks and soft serve! I was very pleased to enjoy some hot green tea.

That said, the mentaiko carbonara definitely needs some work. Very faint mentaiko flavor and both my friend and I needed some salt and pepper to flavor our pasta. It’s probably good if you don’t like salty food.

I must applaud the quality service at Hifumi (usually rare in SG); the server was genuinely interested in the quality of the dish and asked politely if my friend also agreed that the dish was not salty enough.

If I’m in the mood for a big meal, I’ll be interested to be back to try the hot pot or other rice dishes!

My first time getting prawn karaage! It’s completely fried and you can eat it all, shell and flesh! Great umami flavor and love the crunch!

Box and sticks serves amazing food and has awesome service 💗 (PS. forgot the exact price of prawn karaage but it’s around $8)

There must be a reason why the mentaiko Wagyu beef is the most popular on the menu. It’s goooooooooood 😋

the Wagyu beef was tender and not over cooked, reminded me of the medium rare texture I’m used to. The mentaiko sauce was the bomb!! Loved it. And I’m surprised how well a small tinge of wasabi gave the dish all the kick I wanted and how it went so well with the mentaiko sauce and Wagyu beef!! Onsen egg is god send, mix it in with the rice!

My only peeve was that for $18.90, there’s not any more sides like vegetables or more rice? Usually I have enough to keep half a bowl for my next meal but here, I demolished the entire bowl with nothing left!!! And hello, this is in NUS University town!!!! Everything else is like really cheap here.

I tried the chocolate and matcha cheese tarts!

Love the crust. Not too sweet and a nice crunch!!

Matcha cheese was my preferred one. It was not too sweet with a light tinge of the matcha flavor. The cheese was still runny, like 流沙 even though I only tried it a few hours later.

Dark chocolate was interesting but abit too bitter for me. And rich.

Remember to stop by on weekdays if you don’t want to wait in line!!

I made it!!! Been walking past many weekends and the line is always sooooooo long. But today on a weds night there was no line! According to the cashier weekdays is quite quiet.

I got the cheese soft custard in a cone - I would prefer if it is more salty.. taste like a milk custard. Quite smooth but taste is not my thing. The cone is like sugar wafer, quite thin and crispy! Good job!

Going at $3.90

Most people describe this place known for their custard puffs on burppler. But I was curious since tamagoyaki means grilled egg!

I finally figured out that there are three ways to order tamagoyaki - ala carte, bento and value bento.

Ala carte is a combi of 6 pieces of tamagoyaki with a protein - karaage, Kani, unagi, char siu etc. the amazing thing is you can ZENG your tamagoyaki with cheese or mentaiko for $2.90!! And you can’t do that with the bento sets (at least not stated on the menu).

Bento comes with a protein, tamagoyaki and mushroom rice while super value bento comes with TWO proteins, tamagoyaki and mushroom rice. (Goes up to $14-15) my only grumble is where are the vegetables in the bento?? Can’t be a balanced diet if you only have protein and carbs and no fibers..

Of course, the best value of all is burpple’s offer of fry-yay bento for just $8!! Great if you’re looking for a full meal.

For me, I just wanted a snack so I got the unagi tamagoyaki zeng-ed with cheese (YAY 😋). The unagi was seasoned just the right touch of sweetness and grilled with a little caramelized char!! And it went surprisingly well with my cheesy tamagoyaki. Which was amazingly soft and the cheese was melty! Also, it is still tasty after you reheat it in the microwave! 👍🏼

Can’t wait to try more variations and the mushroom rice!!
