Ordered Seaweed Rice, Sweet and Sour Mushrooms, Sambal Okra and the Chef recommended Hotplate Brinjal and Old-fashioned Vinegar Stew. The dishes were all a tad bit oily but very tasty and flavourful nonetheless! The cosy ambience had an old-school western vibe, and wasn't too crowded at 7pm dinner time! Waiting time for the food was incredibly quick (around 5 minutes) which makes me slightly sceptical but it's overall still better than a long wait! Would revisit to try the other item on their extensive menu!

Takeaway: 1.Tau Hu Goreng ( sauce is made from pumpkin) 2. Abacus seeds ( strong mushroom favor) 3. Sushi veggie roll with wasabi sauce 4. Spiced pumpkin soup ***Mostly All The Dishes Are Vegan***

If you've eschewed going green because of the notorious prices tagged to healthy eating, then a visit to this popular Bukit Batok hawker stall may well change your mind. With prices averaging at a very pocket-friendly $4, Jing Yi Vegetarian makes going meatless affordable and more importantly, tasty. Burpple Tastemaker Wei Zhi Chiang highly recommends the Fried Dried Hor Fun ($4). The deceptively simple looking dish, which comes with just vegetables and a few slices of mock fishcake and mock meat, won her over with its smoky wok hei. The hor fun comes with eggs, so heed her advice to let the chef know if you'd like to go without. Other tasty eats include the Tom Yum Mee Soup ($5) with its punchy, tangy broth, the wet Hor Fun ($4) and the Deep Fried Mushroom in Sweet and Sour Sauce ($7). The latter sees a plateful of crunchy deep-fried oyster mushrooms, slicked in a coating of sticky sweet and sour sauce — wonderfully addictive and great to share. Pro tip: According to Wei Zhi, a 30-minute waiting time is common, especially on the first and 15th day of the lunar calendar.
Avg Price: $5 per person

Felt so clean & light after our super healthy dinner at @afterglow_sg, even with this generous portion of spiralised zucchini tossed in a dehydrated tomato sauce. The zoodles had a nice crunch to it, and was actually really tasty, topped with an almond crumble "cheese". The best part? "Meat balls" made from walnut, shiitake & dates, which had a delicious nutty flavour! Who knew that #vegan food could be so creative and tasty 😋 #Burpple #vegetarian #meatlessmonday

I knew I'll come back to this cafe! This roll was just toasty skin stuff with generously spiced potatoes and tofu - think Indian spices! Definitely one of the better vegetarian wraps!

Okay the sushi rolls were rly as good as the real ones. I mean, the overall taste rly pulled it off. If you would dissect them and eat it, it would be wasting the chef's efforts and unless you are just rly curious how it tasted individually.

Never understood why eat mock meat that tasted like meat but this dish really blew my mind away???!! It's so good and it really tasted like chicken?! Real chicken or not, would have it any day!

Besides being meatless, there's also no use of animal products such as eggs and diary. What a challenge for meat lovers like myself, and the chefs who have to create a tasty meal given these constraints.
🔸
Besides 'cheese', the lagsana also contains diced eggplant and tofu crumble mixed with tomato ragu sauce. Could #lagsana be cheesey without diary? Surprisingly, the cheese at Brownice (including those sprinkled on our truffle fries) tastes just like real cheese. The owner said it's a secret but he could reveal that they're made from soy.
🔸
The taste of the Italian food here can't be compared with other typical Italian food given the constraints in ingredients. But it's a good option if you're a #vegan, or if you are looking for a meatless meal for a change.

This is an invited tasting hosted by Khai, @brownice_sg. Thank you @tiara_star for the invitation. Afterthought: I should probably show the inside of this lagsana..

This special dish (available only on Tuesdays & Friday) was simply amazing - so so flavourful! Especially coming from me when I don't even like brinjal!

Masala Dosa ($6)
.
2nd visit here and 2nd time having this Masala Dosa. By far my favourite @MTRrestaurant . It’s amazing how vegetarian food can taste so good. I love the crispy crust that goes so well with the accompanying condiments. The potato filling inside was so generous and also superbly flavourful whilst the green chilli paste spreaded lightly in the wrap packed a really powerful punch! So tearily fiery yet shiok at the same time.
