Rose scented frangipane, raspberry & lychee filling, macarons.

I had one of these yesterday and then another one this morning, the one yesterday had a stronger rose scent and more filling. The filling has lots of berry/jammy flavour, and expect a frangipane filling (like almond croissant) rather than a rose flavoured cream filling. There are lots of elements to this croissant: macaron shells, croissant with filling and the croissant is sliced in half as well, hence why the price is slightly higher than say the pain au chocolat which is priced at $4. Personally wish this had more of a rose fragrance and lychee flavour, and that the filling was a cream based one instead. The macaron shells are a pretty touch! But if they were one whole macaron instead or a rose meringue stick, that would’ve been more interesting. In light of the recent lockdown announcements, Brother Bird are now going to open everyday for takeaway croissants yay 😇

Happy opening day to Shake Shack Great World!!! 🍔🍟🍦❤️

This is Shake Shack’s 6th outlet in SG and they’ve just launched their limited edition, super delicious Jalapeño Ranch menu! Not gonna lie, it’s extremely addictive and I 10/10 would recommend. Best burger and fries I ever had at Shake Shack.

Expect parmesan, black pepper and real fresh and crunchy jalapeños (my favourite chillis)! 🌶😍

Pictured here is the Jalapeño Ranch Shack burger, Jalapeño Ranch Fries, as well as Great World’s exclusive Concretes: Poppin’ Good Time and Berry Ferris Swell!!

Check out all of these yummy treats at Shake Shack Great World 😋

Kickstarted the early birthday celebration w/ @desireeweee at @barcicheti 🥳 Pasta so good you might pasta-way and go to pasta heaven 🍝 Think my expectations were exceeded after reading the reviews and trying the food for myself. My favourite is the Agnolotti - flavourful parcels of pasta filled with melt in your mouth beef cheek. 10/10 would recommend!! Don’t believe those reviews that said it’s jelak (to be fair I guess we did order a starter portion). The complimentary bread was nice too! Paccheri is not bad too with generous amounts of beef ragu. Note that the pasta texture here generally seems to be on the tougher side (save for the Agnolotti). Felt the Pici Cacio E Pepe was a lil plain, tasted like a slightly chewier udon to me. Would be nice if it was dressed with some veg. The rigatoni was alright (probably also cos I was so satiated with pasta already by the fourth pasta), felt the pesto could have been a little more flavourful. We ordered the starter portions of the pasta to share and try as many pasta dishes as possible #greedy haha. Would come back for the Agnolotti and maybe try their other food too!

Agnolotti [$19++]
Ten hour braised beef cheek, fondo bruno, parmigano

Paccheri [$20++]
Six hour braised ragu, aged parmigiano

Pici Cacio E Pepe [$18++]
Sarawak black pepper, marjoram, parmigiano

Rigatoni [$18++]
Roasted walnut pesto, parmigana, semi dried tomato

After a long, tiring day/week, finally visited the Bee’s Knees at The Garage! I love discovering food places I’ve yet to try. So, was the food the bee’s knees?

Beef Cheek Bolognese [$21++]: Pappardelle, braised beef cheek, tomato, basil, parmesan.
The pasta was kind of like lasagna sheets but a long, thin version. Couldn’t taste the basil. The beef cheek was not much and not amazing. Price a little steep for what it is but at least the pasta tasted okay and was al dente.

The Veggie Goat [$17++]:
Quinoa, goat cheese, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, roasted nuts, pumpkin, balsamico.
Shared this vegetarian salad with my friend. There was lots of quinoa. I didn’t find any pumpkin strangely! Nothing much to shout about the salad. It seemed quite plain and unvarnished to me, like an assembled mish mash of ingredients rather than a proper salad. Maybe I should have put the balsamico on it.

Peanut Butter Cheesecake [$7++]:
Peanut butter cream cheese, digestive biscuit.
I thought peanut butter and cheesecake was a weird combination but it surprisingly worked pretty well. It was not bad but again the price is a little steep for not that big a slice of cake. Could taste the digestive biscuit in the cheesecake base.

While the food is alright, it is a little on the expensive side and wasn’t so amazing that the food itself would necessarily bring me back or inspire any cravings. The food is decent and the place is fuss-free and it isn’t that difficult to get attention from the waitstaff which I appreciate.

The ambience here is really nice, with the twinkling fairy lights on the trees and outdoor umbrellas, this would be a great place for celebrations or just catching up with friends you haven’t seen in a while! A nice place for al fresco dining, I imagine an early breakfast/brunch here would be lovely. Whenever I’ve walked past I’ve always seen patrons dining - note this is a dog-friendly restaurant within the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and it’s within walking distance from Botanic Gardens MRT station. Didn’t have reservations on a Sunday night and it wasn’t a problem! PS. They have a day menu and a night menu too and $25++ for 2 cocktails.

Brotherbird Coffeehouse just reopened yesterday at 32 Bali Lane!

Ordered this pasta and the customer next to me saw me eating this and ordered the same thing 😂 I found there was quite a lot of pieces of pork fat in this dish and bits of carrot. Quite an ordinary dish, a little on the expensive side for what it is!
