Thunder Tea Rice, aka 擂茶 (Lei Cha), from a stall at the air-conditioned Gourmet Paradise foodcourt located at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. Initially, I had high hopes for this dish, after reading up on several good reviews about it. However, I am a little disappointed by how underwhelming it is. The ingredients were just the usual TTR ingredients, nothing special. The soup was terribly diluted and lacked the strong tea taste. Overall, with its slightly hefty price point, I feel that this is not worth queuing up for and I have definitely eaten much better TTR at other places in Singapore.

OVERALL RATING: 5.5/10

Picked cha soba as my choice of carb, lemongrass chicken thigh as my protein, and my three toppings were: pickled cucumbers, beansprouts and roasted celery. Chose the Thai spicy vinaigrette as the dressing for my salad.

The soba tasted a little stale - perhaps because they kept it in the plastic container for quite a while and when I ordered, they simply took the container out and added the additional ingredients. Even though I could barely taste any hint of lemongrass in the lemongrass chicken thigh, the chicken meat was tender and I quite like it. All three toppings were pretty well-seasoned, albeit being a tad too oily. Picked the wrong choice of dressing, as the vinaigrette was way too sweet and did not go well with my salad.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice of toppings, but not so with the soba and the dressing. I loved how generous the portion was, despite the cheaper price point in comparison to other salad shops. This did not fill me up though... I think I should pick two or even three proteins the next time I order 😅

The bingsu from O'ma Spoon is truly one of the best I've ever tried in Singapore. Each bowl comes with a mountain of creamy shaved ice, and condensed milk by the side which is free-flow from the counter. The ice here is so finely shaved and does not melt easily. Loved the toppings that accompanied the shaved ice as well ☺️

The shaved ice melted too quickly :-( The rice cakes were not bad, but overall this entire dish kinda fell short of the authentic bingsu taste, not sure why but I just felt like I was eating shaved ice with minimal toppings, which I personally wish that they could have been more generous with.

A voluminous bowl of rice topped with an onsen egg and six different ingredients - namely the Mentaiko Salmon, Wagyu Beef, Garlic Parmesan Chicken, Dak Gang Jeong, Sio Bak and Salted Egg Tempura. My favourite out of all has got to be the sous vide salmon! It was moist and flaky, and when paired with the torched mentaiko sauce, it simply melted in my mouth 🤤 The other ingredients did not pale in comparison as well, as all of them packed a punch and were incredibly tasty! My least favourite has got to be the salted egg tempura though; the vegetables (eggplant, enoki mushrooms, okra and sweet potato) were nicely fried in the tempura batter. However, the salted egg powder which was used to coat these tempura was not strong and flavourful enough and hence the tempura tasted a little boring on its own. It would have been ideal if they were to provide a dipping sauce for the tempura too.

This humongous sized bowl of don is good for sharing among two to four people. Overall, I would say that it is worth every single cent as not only is the portion generous, it's quality food that you're getting at a coffeeshop! 🙌🏼😋

The maki in focus is the Shiok Maki Generation 2 (with fried tempura prawn) while the one behind is the Shiok Maki Generation 1 (with grilled unagi). Both are priced at $16.80++ for 8 pieces of maki. These maki are topped with a thick cut of aburi salmon and crunchy tobiko (flying fish roe), and are drenched in an excessive amount of their secret housemade sauce, which tastes like a rich and cheesy blend of mentaiko and mayonnaise. The sauce is undoubtedly the component that makes this maki so amazingly delectable, as it is extremely creamy and addictive! 🤤 This is hands down one of my favourite places to dine at whenever I need to satisfy my maki cravings ✨😌

A breaded mixture of fish & chips and fried chicken, topped with nacho cheese. Loved the fusion between the deep fried fish and chicken! Really digging the cheese that accompanied this dish as well hehe yummmm 🤗

The hazelnut chocolate filling was so rich and decadent, with crispy bits (which tasted a little like rice crackers?) encased within the fluffy pancake, adding a nice crunch that accompanied every single bite 😋 Priced at $1.80, I believe this is an affordable sweet treat that could very well satisfy one's craving for chocolate 🍫👌🏼
