Danish loaf, bacon steak, guacamole, maple sausage, cured salmon, tater tots, mesclun salad. Overall, it’s put together pretty well. Cured salmon wasn’t too impressive, but the star would be the maple sausage. The combination of sweet and salty does work very well!
Deconstructed lamb & beef kebab with tchigurt, pine nuts, pistachios, cured lemon, watercress pesto, harissa, olive tapenade with pita bread, and a herbed sunflower seed tabouleh. A great combination of flavours and textures: the spiced meat, slight acidity from the yoghurt, and the refreshing tabouleh.
I opted for the large set because why not? The eel was unbelievably soft and tender while the skin was slightly crisp and that is due to the Kanto style of cooking i.e. “the eel is first grilled, then steamed for 15 mins, and then grilled again before serving.” (As mentioned by @ieatishootipost). This definitely hit the spot after an evening jog!
I discovered the dark again by going for 88% dark chocolate. So bitter, so good.
Sunny side up, baked beans, rosemary chicken sausage, turkey bacon, salad. It’s a decent meal, although I would have loved it if there were more mushrooms and salad. The fried egg was slightly overcooked as I could taste some burnt bits. Do check out their Muddy Espresso ($5.50) as it’s pretty good.
Warm Valrhona dark chocolate lava cake. Chocolate soil. Crunchy almond nougatine. Orange-infused vanilla gelato. Cutting the cake reveals a luscious and a gooey chocolate center which then drips down to coat the gelato beneath it. The combination of hot and cold - amazing. Recommended quantity: 1 per person, because anything is good if it’s made of chocolate (good quality of course).
Kurobata Pork Belly, Pickled Black Fungus, Raw Quail Yolk, Soy Foam, Spring Onion, Aonori, Pork Lard. If I’m right, in place of your usual stock, the ramen stock was added when cooking the risotto. A great mix of flavours and textures. However, I felt the dish was a little too salty for me (probably because of the ramen stock that was used). The pork lard was not crispy as it had turned cold. But the star of the dish has to be the Kurobata Pork Belly. So tender, juicy, and the fat melts in your mouth.
An absolute joy to eat on a cold and rainy day. Piping hot broth, chewy noodles, and offal. It’s also one of the times where I appreciate the “腥味” of the intestines. Located a near the Gong Cha underneath Pasir Ris MRT.
Somehow I’ve been involving myself with a lot of spicy food recently 😩 These wings are fried to perfection - skin is crispy and the meat is moist. The aroma of cumin, heat from the chillis, and the numbness of the Sichuan peppercorns makes you crave for a ice-cold can of Coke.
🌶🌶🌶🌶. Tripe was handled well as it tasted really clean. This dish is flavourful, the meat is cooked tender, and it does pack a nice punch. Certainly worth the burn in and out of your body.
“Count the memories, not the calories.” Yep, ending the Sunday with good food definitely takes away a little bit of the Monday blues that is about to come. Might be too herby for some but it was perfect for me. The fennel was extremely aromatic, crust was crisp at the edges, and you can’t go wrong with Kurobuta pork sausage meat and roasted peppers. Happy Monday everyone, 1 day down, 4 to go!
Not too spicy despite looking dangerously fiery. Chicken was extremely tender. Sauce goes extremely well with rice (as usual). Also, I’d recommend adding a little vinegar to cut the oiliness of the dish. 赞。
