Those who know me are surely aware that I’m a sucker for cream-based pasta. Kabe no Ana is placed on this “hub” in NEX along with other Jap restaus. We ordered Mentaiko Carbonara ($13.90 for regular size, i think around $18.90 for ther larger serving ✌🏻). Though too creamy, the ham bits on top balanced the flavor. The tamago is flowy and blends well with the sauce.

The family beside me told me that I eat a lot for my body size when they saw this order 🙃 (not that i care.. haha jk). One thing I notice on some food centres is that they bathe everything in butter or in oil or seasoning that it makes it tiring to eat, not in this Foodfare near my place tho 🎉 my weekend breakfast default: Kaya set ($2.20) and siew mai ($1.70). Toast has a light spread of kaya and butter. Siew mai is generously stuffed. Totally worth the priiice. 💕

Look at that craaaab. 😍 I’ve always hated eating crabs as I find it more tedious than enjoyable, not until I’ve tried chili crab (first time was still in KL). Holy Crab’s ($9+/100g) is no different as they cook it very well. We chose level 2 of heat, and it’s just the right amount of spice you would want if you’re chili-averse like me lol. We paired it with their mantou ($4+ for 5) which could be improved as it’s a bit oily. Enjoyed every bit of this 1.3kg crab. Probably one of the mid-range crab places I’ve tried that totally didn’t disappoint!

Default Jollibee orders: Palabok (~$4 ala carte) + 2-pc Burger Steak (~$6 for meal). Some locals find it weird that I don’t order spaghetti or chicken joy cause almost all Filipinos love it (but I don’t fancy them too much 😅) Palabok’s seasoning here is less savoury here with that back home. The burger steak is much better and thicker here though. Mushroom sauce is still 👌🏻

This Iberico pork belly don is totally worth the money. With just $10, you get this thinly-sliced smoked pork don with seaweed and egg. The strips might come as a bit bland and just have barbecue-ish/smoked-ish taste. But (!!) they offer a handful of sauces (on which I have no idea what those are as they are Japanese-labeled 😅) that could make it very tasty. I always enjoy my meals here :)

Menya Musashi is still my favorite ramen place in Vivo, especially now that they have lunch sets (cheap and practical find lol) 😁 Ordered this white tonkatsu ramen with chashu. Set comes with a choice of side, and a drink ($12.90++). Broth is savoury and rich just how I want it. Noodles are not too soft, nor very hard. Chashu might be a bit small but very tasty. Love their tamago as weeeell 😍 perfect for today’s very cold day ❤️

I got to try two Azabu Sabo flavors: dark chocolate and some walnut thingy (✌🏻) for $5.90 and got a bit disappointed. Lined up when we saw that the queue is quite long (assuming this is good lol), but the flavor we wanted to try was already finished (matcha!! 😞) resorted to order the mentioned and found it too sweet and tasted very alike. Don’t have a sweet tooth though, so this could just be me 😅

Aside from being a very nature-y place for brunch, PS Cafe serves very decent food as well. Ordered their Big Breakfast ($30ish++ ✌🏻) - with scrambled eggs, roasted tomato, basil pesto, bacon, toast, and sausages. Enjoyed the sausages the most; bacon was a tad bit hard and bland (i like em very crunchy haha). The ambience made up for it tho! Perfect for brunch dates :)

Another Yabu love: Mozzarella Katsu Sticks (PhP 270+). Perfect cheesy goodness with very crunchy panko crust. Enjoyed eating this a lot!

Fave appetizer from Yabu! Love the Agedashi Tofu’s (PhP 220+) subtle flavor. Very crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. It is topped with some bonito flakes and grated radish. What I like aside from the softness is the sauce - soy-dashi, which works with their katsus as well.

Though there’s a Hougang-exclusive flavor (thai milk tea bingsu), I still played safe and had pat bingsu ($12.90). Got a big chunk of red bean on top the ice, plus chewy rice cakes above it, and a few injeolmi as well.

One thing I like with Nunsongyee’s bingsu (not just this type) is it doesn’t come too sweet, unlike some other brands I’ve tried. I have yet to try the thai milk tea one tho! Btw, their cafe’s ambience is sooo relaxing. Try to visit :D

Who doesn’t get excited when they hear “tahooooo” from the taho man? 😂 Enjoyed this (PhP 10) by the beach! This is very similar with Tau Fu Fah/Tau Huay except that it has pearls and it uses brown sugar and caramel as sweetener rather than white sugar syrup. Both are good nonetheless!
