[Halal] A slight switch up from the flurry of dessert and Western-related food posts. Actually, not really the case. I just have rice and/or noodles almost everyday - they just go undocumented. 😬 That normally includes this Honey Chicken Fried Rice from Great Thai, but not today!
I really don't ask for much in a plate of one, but the generous amount of diced chicken in addition to the ones mixed with their honey sauce were greatly appreciated! It also doesn't have too many different ingredients and it wasn't oily too. This goes perfectly with a cup of their Thai Iced Tea! If I never had to worry about staying in shape, you can bet I'd have this everyday (7.5/10)
Brew & Bar is a new Perankan eatery in Tanah Merah that has taken over Foo House. Affordable and with portions that’s perfect for small groups, we were overall quite satisfied by the food. Even though we went when they were having a private event, they gladly accommodated us in One Bistro a few stalls down (same owner) where they brought the food over.
The assam fish head had just the right amount of heat and sourness from the assam that you just want to ladle all over your rice. The fish was moist and cooked well too, perfect for sharing. You’ll find some vegetables like eggplant, tomatoes and ladies fingers strewn about.
While service was friendly, we really picked an off day to visit due to the private event (rice only came a while after food was served, etc) but I’m quite sure it was only due to our special arrangement that this happened.
Great to satisfy my cravings for butter chicken rather then running to the west for it! Usually available before midnight :)
What a great find! Meat was supple and fresh, while the bee hoon was thick with flavor without feeling the lard being dragged down your throat. All this for $29.90! Definitely will be back again.
The store's name: literally Bedok Food Corner Hokkien Mee. It doesn't get more straightforward than that. The stoic uncle, assisted by his equally stoic wife whip out small batches of Hokkien mee, and if come just after one batch starts, you're gonna be waiting for a good 20mins. Don't worry. It's worth the wait though. The short noodles are easily scooped out with a spoon and are drenched in a sweet, savoury gravy that is thick, runny and heavenly. Made from superior pork and prawn stock, you taste the sweetness of the prawn and pork with every bite. A squeeze of lime cuts through the richness of it, while crunchy pork lard bits and prawns and seafood lend more texture to the dish. I hate this word, but it is perfect in this circumstance: moist. That's what this delicious dish is. Moist and very tasty. $4!
