The Harsh Truth

The Harsh Truth

Mostly #instagramfood which I can’t deal or when I had huge expectations for the restaurant which they then fail to deal with me. 🙈

The Pork Jowl was the better dish we had there. We paid $100ish for 2 pax for the dinner tasting menu. We had to go over to Strangers Reunion for a second round unfortunately :(

Deviled eggs were little cones of egg mousse, which tasted like vanilla instead. The fish and chips were the saving grace. Great ideas but unfortunately the execution to us was really disappointing...

Plating was alright and that was it. Was it frozen scallops? It was really tiny :(

Had high expectations of this place with all the great reviews. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu ($45++ for one pax) and this was one of the starters. It was a cold dish, the truffle taste was way too strong while I felt that the fish roe was not very fresh. Read on for the other dishes.

Nicely plated dish. The chorizos were way too salty for my liking while the scrambled eggs had no “oomph” had all. Had way too high expectations for this place, service was a little off- the staff seemed too busy for questions and a little short tempered too. Have to admit that it’s a pretty nice place to chill at on weekends. But nope, not returning. 22 bucks for this.

Was pretty excited to visit this pop up store. Had high expectations! Unfortunately best dish was this and the mao shan wang creme brûlée.

The slices of this pork Jowl was pretty thin as well. Wish it was thicker!

We ordered the crab rilettes, the garang rice, the red platter (lamb and beef was pretty tough) and a barrumundi.

Total damage: $360 (and we were not full) New Ubin’s much better in my opinion!

Ain’t supreme at all. Bread was tough and dry. Meat was a thin slab of beef. Fries was alright.

Price: $11.90

Really underwhelming, shabu shabu pork was dry and had zero flavour. Curry felt like it was the kind you can buy from the supermarket. Yet there was a queue... people are patronizing just cos it’s #instagrammable. Not a fan of #instagramfood

Price: $15-$20 (add a dollar for the lava egg)

Starting this in hope that I can help people find great food and great places!
