This was another appetizer that we all loved. Meaty and juicy, with a crisp tofu skin layer surrounding the five-spiced meat. Shame it didn’t come with the sweet sauce that normally accompanies it(I’m sure they have it but we didn’t feel like waiting for it).
Not sure if this is made in-house or not, either way we cleaned this out pretty quickly! Packed with chunky pieces of mackerel, you get that satisfying bite of soft steamed spicy paste and the meaty flesh of the fish. Definitely a must-order if you love otak otak. 🔥
Never heard of this before, and the apt description on the menu was “rare dish of sotong in squid ink sauce”. Recommended by their staff, this was another dish we gladly ladled all over our rice!
Slightly nutty, the sauce also packed some heat from the chilies added in. Well cooked squid meant this was one of the more popular dishes on our table.
Brew & Bar is a new Perankan eatery in Tanah Merah that has taken over Foo House. Affordable and with portions that’s perfect for small groups, we were overall quite satisfied by the food. Even though we went when they were having a private event, they gladly accommodated us in One Bistro a few stalls down (same owner) where they brought the food over.
The assam fish head had just the right amount of heat and sourness from the assam that you just want to ladle all over your rice. The fish was moist and cooked well too, perfect for sharing. You’ll find some vegetables like eggplant, tomatoes and ladies fingers strewn about.
While service was friendly, we really picked an off day to visit due to the private event (rice only came a while after food was served, etc) but I’m quite sure it was only due to our special arrangement that this happened.
