Very very good mimosa. It’s not potent, like any good mimosa should be. The orange essence was also very good. Overall, I’d give it a 8.5/10
Very well seasoned except for the salt. The prawns were excellent and the soupy base made a great companion to the assorted bread basket we ordered. 6/10
A good dish but a bit too salty and creamy. I usually like some mushroom in my risotto to balance the richness of this dish. 6/10
Not the best hollandaise sauce I’ve had but sure comes a close second. The spicy roasted potatoes on the side are brilliant. Bacon was done well. The pepita bread is to the harder side but that’s probably because it’s home-made. Highly recommended.
By far the best avo-toast combination I’ve had in Singapore. The avocados have always been perfectly ripe and in this case seasoned with some of the more unusual spices such a cumin, coriander, sesame and feta cheese . I’ve had this 3 times in the past year and the best part is just how consistent they’ve been. 10/10 for sure.
Well- seasoned scrambled eggs on toast from 40 hands. This place never disappoints. This was excellent and the produce tastes different from the rest of the cafes. 10/10
How many steak places have fish? This is why this restaurant is unique. Had this steal of a meal from isteaks diner at Holland village. The fish was fresh and succulent, Mac and cheese were sinful like it should be and I had the spinach-sesame salad to feel a little less guilt about my carb intake. That’s the best thing about them- they have healthy sides! All this for $10 bucks. Excellent service as well. Highly recommended for a nice lunch/ dinner.
This cafe had tasty brunches for ridiculously low prices (by Singaporean cafe standards). Been there 3 times now and it hasn’t failed to impress so far. Highly recommend their eggs Benedict for the yummy hollandaise sauce. It’s a real treat to the eyes and the palate while being easy on the pocket. 4.8/5.0
One of the best looking and tasting pancakes I’ve had in Singapore! This particular set would be a favourite for everyone who likes their pancakes to the less sweet side. The berries add a nice acidic balance to this meal. Let’s also not forget the ambience of this place. If it’s not a humid day, I highly recommend outdoor seating.
The pancakes were fluffy and maple syrup was not excessively sweet as seen in many other cafes. Sunny side up was average while the poached eggs and sauce were done well. The salmon however was seasoned and done just right (to our tastes as I understand this is subjective) And was the winner on the plate in terms of flavor. Nothing special to report about the latte and flat white coffees but they surely did not disappoint either.
The big breakfast at W39 is one of the better spreads I’ve seen. For starters, the baked beans were not from a can (pat on the back for that). The toast and the eggs were just as we see in any other brunch place, nothing exceptional. Teamed this with vanilla latte which was unnecessarily sweet. Special mention to these guys for being dog friendly. I was seated outdoors alongside 2 labradoodles and a golden retriever with 2 schnauzers on the table behind. If you’re a dog lover, this is the place to be on a weekend morning.
Though the picture here shows the dirty chai latte, I had many of the Tapas dishes featured on the menu. The crab cake and Spanish omelette stood out for me. The latter in particular is praise-worthy as it was made to fluffy perfection. Another thing to mention (as a true blue whiny Singaporean) would be to avoid this place in humid weather because there isn’t air conditioning anywhere. Apart from this tiny inconvenience, good food, decent coffee and reasonably priced, especially for big group events.
