Okay honestly I have a rly bad spice tolerance and this was the lowest spice level yet I found it quite spicy....so I guess the higher levels will have quite a kick! Haven’t tried enough mala to discern whether this is good, but I think for the price it’s pretty decent! (Especially since there’s quite a bit of meat)

The star of the dish was definitely the chicken. It was moist and so so flavorful I couldn’t get enough of it. The noodles was springy and absorbed the sauce well, and the soup had a strong shrimp taste which I really enjoyed!

Given that I’m such a fan of banmian, I decided to try this highly-raved store! The queue was rather long, so I suggest that you come earlier haha. The noodles were really yummy and the dark sauce wasn’t too saltish. The xlbs were super good for the price - though smaller than the ones at DTF, the soup broth was just as flavorful. A very good combination of food :-)

Located within an industrial complex, this place may be a little out of the way but it’s definitely worth the drive! We ordered a range of dishes, from fried rice to Lala white bee hoon, fried pork to French beans, but my favorite dish would have to be the salted egg prawns. The prawns were large and juicy (and peeled!), and the salted egg yolk batter was not too thick or cloying. As one who isn’t the biggest fan of salted egg yolk, this was the perfect combination for me. The skin was crisp and not soggy even after being left out so it’s definitely worth ordering! Overall, the portions were big and the prices reasonable (and they have free ice cream for you to choose from after your meal!)

On the hunt for cheaper food options around Suntec, we wandered around and found Wild Market in Shaw Tower! It’s a bit of an ‘atas’ food court, but with affordable options as well. The bak chor mee was well done with springy noodles, 2 large pieces of crispy wanton skin, minced pork, pork liver and mushrooms. I opted for the non spicy version, and found the vinegar a little too overpowering. However, it was overall a very filling meal and enjoyed it, just that I would ask for lesser vinegar!
