Hidden gem in Far East plaza - I love this place so much that I was tempted not to share the location. It’s a pretty understated place but the quality is amazing and it has quickly become one of my go-to places for affordable food in town. The prawns are live and sourced daily, so they’re Super fresh and usually a little bigger than this!!! If you’re into bayou (pork lard), this white bee Hoon will be right up your alley.

This has got to be the best oyster omelette in Singapore. Big, plump & juicy oysters atop crispy layers of egg makes a heavenly dish that you die die must try! Available only during dinner or you can try your luck at other times as it is cooked to order.

Here comes the soup version of mala xiang guo (麻辣香锅). This is unlike mala steamboat (麻辣火锅) which usually comes with a layer of chilli oil floating on top. There are 4 types of broths available - Mala (麻辣), Chinese Pickled Vegetables (酸菜), Pork Bone (猪骨) and Tomato. Ingredients comes in a variety of meat, seafood and vegetables that goes for $2.88 per 100g.

I liked their thick and chewy noodles that looked like 酸辣粉. The normal level mala broth comes with acceptable amount of heat and it’s drinkable - similar to those I had in Taiwan from 马辣顶级鸳鸯火锅 while pickled vegetables broth is sour and spicy.

Thanks @burpple for the invite and @gongyuansg for hosting!

Forget about my low carb diet, I couldn’t resist this signature dish😘 Just within 5mins, I heard ‘Mee Hoon Kuen’ at least 5 times from the customers here. This is indeed what this humble stall is famous for 👍🏻 I must remember to ask for more chilli next time though the black sauce was already very delicious 😋 This signature dish is featured in their delivery poster! Swipe left to witness its glamour 😉

Located in a secluded corner of Orchard Towers 3rd level, Thai Tantric serves authentic Thai food at a relatively affordable price. My fav is their crispy, well marinated fried Pork Belly ($10) that comes w a homemade chilli/sesame sauce (spicy + tard). Best kind of food before a night of drinking/partying. P/s: get ready to wait 30-45 mins for food to be served on weekends but it'll be worth it!

Scrambled Eggs 🥚 , Ham & Thick Toast 水哥传统早餐 (S$4.50)

It may looked simple, but the toast was buttery light and sliced through easily.

Formerly known as Tong Kian Kitchen, then Tong Kian Seafood, this heartland Chinese Zi Char has grown to 2 outlets now, and re-branded as T.K. Kitchen.
.
They serve delicious, hearty meals at wallet-friendly prices, catering to elderly residents and labourers, in the West of Singapore.
.
This features a fresh, whole crab, stir-fried in white pepper, tender caramelised white onions, and crunchy spring onions.
.
The gravy is rich and spicy peppery, complementing the sweet flavour of the crab meat. Very addictive with a good kick.
.
Unlike elsewhere, the crab here is a fixed price, no matter what the size / weight is, because they're making it affordable for the elderly / labourers.

Come for an early lunch with your colleagues in tow and have Truly Test Kitchen's signature Hainanese Curry Rice (average $4, depending on the dishes you pick — you must get the deep-fried pork cutlet), along with other budget friendly dishes like the Sambal Spaghetti ($3.50) and homemade Yam or Pumpkin Cake ($2). Portion sizes are very generous and excellent value considering the prices, which explains the crazy lunch crowds.

2 combination meat with rice cost $7. Almost twice the price compared to the other roast meat stalls. Some might say it is not worth it. But this plate promises quality of the char siew and even the rice. The chilli and plum sauce goes very well with the meat too. If you haven't try it before, do make a trip down to the main outlet at macpherson to taste it for yourself!

Coin Prata - The fragrant coin pratas were so kawaii looking and tasted superb too — crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside!

Located in MacPherson road. The fried wonton is juicy and extra add-on the roasted pork.
