The Best Hawker Gems
Handmade savoury steamed dumplings kueh filled with shredded bamboo shoots, turnip & dried shrimps. Most claimed this is the best in Singapore & closest to their grandmaβs homemade Teochew kueh.
My dad is a big fan so we always have it for breakfast or as a snack. The fragrant & fillings were tasty & generous.
Roxy Square Ban Mian & White carrot pork ribs soup #carbiedaphie #carbiedaphiesg
Lost & Found! Students from the east side grew up with these humble owners & they have moved from Roxy Sq to Marine Parade & I just found them at Old Airport Hawker Centre last week. Ever generous portion as all students get extra ingredients so that our tummy will be filled up. Love their ban mian (add fish slices) & their Home cooked soups. .

The one dish that you either love or go βeewwβ. Comment below! ππ» One of the famous one & best in Singapore. Itβs not exactly the best I had but I recently had the one at another food centre & that was bad, nothing close to this. My dad is such a regular at this stall that they recognised him from a far & gives him VIP services! Guess you know who to join for lunch at Old Airport Food Centre if you donβt wana wait in line! .

π : Tips - Prepare to queue for 20 mins & closes at 3pm.
Every other turtle soup just taste like your normal bak Kut teh herbal soup. They donβt impress me cause I might as well drink bkt instead. This is the only place I will go and I do have my cravings cause the soup is just out of this world tasty. You can taste the chinese wine and herbs, Chili is amazing & more portion of turtle meat here unlike other places. When people ask me how does turtle soup taste like? Most places just taste of your normal herbal soup & turtle meat is soft, tender & chewy! Its heaty for us but also good at the same time so drink in moderation. .

Home made otah with lots of spices and chunky fish meat. Itβs thick in size and very solid but pricey for a piece of side dish & considering how otah are so much cheaper at anywhere else. Honestly, canβt get the same solid piece anywhere else tho & it will leave you wanting for more than 1 piece. recalled it being at $9 but I just googled & itβs $12 online. .

π : Tips - This is one of the dish from their βeconomicalβ food tray that they serve during lunch time.
The original Engβs wanton mee has finally re-opened but people seems to be confused with their rival opposite that continued to use their familiar green plate. My dad grew up eating at Dunman Food Centre & taste remains the same as Engβs Son continued to use the same supplier & recipe. I tried the rival opposite to compare & their dumplings were smaller in size, Chili werenβt as spicy & my mumβs bowl was saltier than mine. Not quite consistent but still ok. Both remains competitive & crowded tho. Will you go to the original or any that has the shortest queue? .
π: 248/250 Tanjong Katong Rd (the same lane as Punggol Nasi Lemak) .
π΅ : $5.50 for the first pic & $4.50 for the second pic
π : Will I return? - Yes! People have been traveling from the west side just for this & even my Indonesian friends.
π : Tips : I realised both white & green plates were tagged under the same old location on Instagram so itβs confusing to people on which to visit.
Most claimed this is the best YTF & you guys know where this was the moment I posted their famous fried meatballs. Itβs not my first time here but I usually donβt take fried food for my ytf bowl except this place! Everyone around me took a min of 2 meatballs each & the boy next to me even took 5 pieces! π I loved their shiitake mushroom, mushroom ball & that fried beancurd rolls in my pic! Mum used to take away the fried meatballs home at 70cents each & they still remained crispy. Chili wasnβt spicy at all. Do you prefer your ytf to be dry or soup? .
π : Lucky Plaza Level 6
π΅ : S$4.90 (price list in my last pic)
π : Will I return - Yes! Taste still remain the same as before.
π : Tips - Very Long Queue during peak hours so best to avoid that. I went at 11am today. Pick your food first before getting your seats.
This bowl of prawn mee with pork ribs has always been the reason why I told my family that Iβm never migrating away from Singapore. Used to eat this every fortnightly without fail & it hit the spot all the time. They sell ngioh hiang & a variety of fried fritters that you can pick from and they will fry them on the spot. This was lunch for 2.
π: Beach Road Prawn Mee at 370 East Coast Rd
π : Will I return? Yes! Always there.
π : Tips - they close at 4pm daily and every Tuesdays.
Famous Hokkien prawn mee that has an average wait of 30-45 mins at peak hours. My dad usually buys back for us & it always hit the spot. Had this last week at the food centre but it was the first time that I was so disappointed. It was just ok only. Also, I donβt get why they donβt serve it with sambal. I love sambal with my noodles, donβt you? .
