A deceptively bland/ plain-looking dish that actually turns out to be quite fragrant and delectable. Love this simple dish!

Such a simple and classic dish. Love having this with rice.

Not featured in photo, but I also chose the Stir-fried baby kailan with salted fish and lime.

The stir fried baby kailan is done with lime juice. Cooked under the strong fire, salted fish bits and red chilli slices are added to the veggies. Then, the baby kailan is tossed with some lime juice and other seasonings which gives the dish a tinge of contrasting sourish lime taste which makes it an interesting and refreshing dish.

It is one of the healthier choice restaurants. I like the fact that they allow you the option to order brown rice over white rice without charging you extra, unlike most other eateries.

Stir-fried Kung Poe Abalone Mushroom; the mushrooms were deep fried before they were stir fried in a savoury, slightly spicy sauce.

4 of us ordered two set lunches and we top up $4.60(X3) for 3 sets of soup of the day (old cucumber with pork ribs). Soup (炖汤)is really good; flavoursome and wholesome, and really so worth getting.

The signature herbal roast duck is unbeatable! Bite into the skin and taste the explosion of herbaliciousness.

Their roast ducks are different from what you have outside as they are tender, and at the same time, juicy.

There is the Dang Gui (Angelica herb) Roast Duck, which is fragrant, savoury and slightly bitter, and there is also the Shi Quan (Ten wonder herbs) Roast Duck, which is slightly sweeter. Personally, I prefer the Shi Quan Roasted duck. It is a must-try!

Nice presentation. Lava cake was okay. Cake itself wasn't moist enough; the explosion of chocolatey goodness was there though. It wasn't overly sweet too. It was a bit odd for me to have my molten lava cake with mint ice cream. They just don't go together. Would rather pair my molten lava cake with a good vanilla ice cream.

Taste wise, I prefer it to the waffle stack (which wasn't fantastic too).

But I wouldn't recommend paying $14 for it. To me, each bite must be worth every cent!

Needn't reserve a table. There are empty tables around. Good for big groups.

Waffles were average. I personally prefer waffles that are crispy on the outside and soft/ fluffy on the inside.
TCS waffles are just mostly crispy.
Sliced bananas and strawberries were fresh.
Berry compote was a good contrast to the sweet ice-cream and waffles, but a tad too sour for me.

The scooped of ice-cream is just too small. At least it is insufficient for the waffles.

Shin Kushiya offers a good selection of kushiyaki skewers which are either seasoned/ glazed with their proprietary salt-mix or their house-special Tare sauce.

The skewers are grilled over Bincho Charcoal, imparting a characteristic savoury smoky flavor. Absolutely fantastic!

A word of caution for those who do not fancy cheesy or dairy products; avoid the chizu maki if you do not absolutely love cheese. Might be overpowering for you.

My suggestion is to go for their signature kushiyaki skewers first instead of their tempura/ udons or curry rice sets etc.

My favourite skewer has got to be their Shoyu Yaki Onigiri (at $2.20 each). Their Shoyu Yako Onigiri is basically a grilled Japanese rice ball on a stick glazed with shoyu and some oil. I like this skewer as the rice ball has some browned crispy parts.

It is really hard to imagine something as simple as grilled white rice can have such wonderful aroma and flavour! Mind blown!

The prawns are really fresh, well-cooked and succulent.

Spaghetti was cooked al dente.

At the first mouthful, the pasta was flavoursome. Delicious!
However, the XO sauce is so full of flavour and aroma that it can become too much of a good thing.
The spaghetti was a tad salty.
As a result, the dish couldn't be finished.
Well, at least the prawns are fresh!

Probably not something I will order again.
