Sit back, relax and enjoy your food trip.
Sushi Airways is a cosy little Japanese restaurant with an airplane theme. Out of the variety of dishes ordered, my favourite has to be the Double Shake maki (Pic 6). With a generous serving of truffle oil and the crunchy fish skin which adds another layer of texture to the dish, this is definitely something that I would recommend. The chawanmushi... not so much.
I have never tried pufferfish before, but their grilled pufferfish (Pic 3) reminded me of Bak Kwa.
The Uni Tasting (Pic 2) is quite interesting, with its cute (and edible) tiny crabs, but one might be put off by the price.
The friendly chef also threw in a complimentary plate of sweet honey dew.
Try it. And remember to get your boarding pass to complete the full experience.

I honestly feel that Tanuki has got its edge when it comes to sauces alone. Regardless of the dish served, each sufficiently brings out the flavour to tickle your tastebuds. I had ordered the Butter Chicken and Tanuki Aburi Maki and both did not disappoint.
If you are there for Happy Hour (before 6 pm), you can even get an oyster at $2 each (max 6) after ordering an alcoholic beverage (try the Honey Sake), they have a concoction for the oyster as well.
With the knack to tease out the flavours from each dish, I have no doubt in my mind that if you dine at @tanukiraw , you would get anything but the raw deal.

I was pretty smug at arriving half an hour before opening time but yet I was the 6th in line!
Amazed by the snaking queue, I was armed with eager anticipation for the food and was promptly awarded for it. The eel was grilled to a degree of perfection, much different from the usual eelfare I was used to. Every mouth carried with it the taste of the traditional charcoal grilled-taste that not only excited the tastebuds but also my sense of smell. Opt for the “soupy” dish and you get an actual wasabi rhizome that you have to actually manually grate to extract the wholesome goodness. Authentic wasabi is actually much less torturous to stomach than the artificial one, and kicks you in the tastebud instead of your nose (no more suffocating feel!).
You should also try out the eel offals which is similarly superbly grilled, making it easy to chew and swallow, unlike the usual rubbery textured ones found in other animals. Simply wonderful.
Even the chawanmushi was a cut above what is usually served elsewhere. I could actually taste the egg whites to a mild degree. That is how authentic and fresh their ingredients are!
In a nutshell, this is definitely a place I would return to. Do arrive at least half an hour before the opening hours to beat the crowd. You have been warned. #burpple #singapore #sgfood #sgfoodie #singaporefoodie #singapore2018 #sgig #igsg #sgeats #STfoodtrendy #mysingapore #hungrygowhere #instasg #whati8todaysg #whati8today #foodporn #onthetable #foodreviews #tripadvisor #groman #gromanfood

Try the Premium Kamemashi & 3 Kinds Kobachi Set (or any Kemashi sets!) Made for those who prefer flavoured rice. Your taste bud would never savour a lone moment with the accompaniment of grilled eel, oyster, sea urchin, oyster and crab meat. If that is not enough to satiate your taste bud and tummy, there’s more to come! The three side dishes, salmon sashimi, avocado soft shell roll and tofu cheesecake will douse that hunger pangs. Still hungry? Top it off with some protein from the chawanmushi and wash all the food down with the miso soup. Extremely valued for money. If you have a normal appetite, it is highly recommended that you share this with a friend by topping up with another side of sashimi, which was what we did.
Being a yogurt liquor, the white peach ama sake cocktail was quite a fresh sensation in my mouth, with its sweet taste. Highly recommended for those of you who would like to indulge in a bit of alcoholic beverage without the bitterness.
As the restaurant is usually packed, do make an advance reservation with @sunwithmoonsg to avoid waiting in line.

Leave it to the chef at @ryosushisg Omakase takes the tedious task selection off your hands, leaving you, the customer, looking forward to each dish.

Being uni lovers, we went for the 18-course sea urchin menu.

The three bowls of starters serves to whet your appetite and awaken your taste buds as you await for the main dishes to be served.

Each of the premium sushi was carefully prepared with different seasonings that provide a different overall taste to the usual sushis in restaurants. While the ingredients enough was good enough (the fatty tuna really melts in your mouth), the seasonings kick it up a notch to bring your taste buds to different level of euphoria.

The handroll contained a generous amount of crabmeat - to the extent that I was tasting crabmeat with almost every bite!

I enjoyed the small sea urchin bowl tremendously, with its generous amount of uni mixed in with the rice (the rice grains are coated with uni!) The ikura gives that bursting goodness which prevents your taste bud from getting excessively sick (jerlat) of the same taste being repeated over and over in your mouth. Very nice touch, I must say.

And of course, who doesn’t enjoy a warm bowl of soup? The last dish to the course helps to calm down those excited tastebuds while bringing warmth and comfort to the tummy.

That was definitely 1.5 hours well-spent and well-digested. Good value for money, considering how costly omakase meals usually are and the amount of unis that were consumed that night. Be warned though, for this is not your usual Singaporean rush hour fanfare. #singapore #sgfood #sgfoodie #singaporefoodie #singapore2018 #sgig #igsg #sgeats #STfoodtrendy #mysingapore #hungrygowhere #instasg #whati8todaysg #whati8today #foodporn #onthetable #foodreviews #tripadvisor #groman #gromanfood #burpple

Starting from the appetiser, we have the sinfully fattening foie gras coated with the delightfully oozing truffle. Truly a match made in artery-clogging haven.

The mussels was not spectacular, despite being topped off with saffron. Good-tasting, nonetheless.

The squid-ink risotto is the choice to make for those of you who love squid and cheese, making it a creamy cheesy blend of delight. Do be advised though, that this dish is really just squid-ink risotto (squid and ink and risotto) so you would probably need an extra source to top up on those protein cravings.

Worried not, for seafood risotto would be the go-to food for those of us who require more than squid and ink to sustain us. If you love the taste of the sea waves crashing against that field of risotto, hop right on board.

Last, but not the least, lava cake with ice-cream to cool off the heat from our tropical island. You can’t really go wrong with lava cakes as long as it flows... and man, did it flow. Not surprisingly good, but it wasn’t a letdown for the tastebuds either. Certainly a good meal all in all.
And yes, they do serve beer. @pocolocosg #singapore #sgfood #sgfoodie #singaporefoodie #singapore2018 #sgig #igsg #sgeats #STfoodtrendy #mysingapore #hungrygowhere #instasg #whati8todaysg #whati8today #foodporn #onthetable #foodreviews #tripadvisor #groman #gromanfood #burpple

I would assume more than one, cause we actually waited close to half an hour for this. With our expectations rising inversely proportionate to our patience, we eagerly dug in the moment the dish was presented to us.

Our expectations were shortlived. All thirty minutes of it down the drain. The rice looked as bland as it tasted. Almost as if it was just plain rice with some crab meat scattered around like garnishes. I am truly suspicious on whether the rice was really fried. Or perhaps they were referring to the fried scallions on top of the rice. That had to be it.

Sorry Feng Shui Inn, but I think with the price tag, my tastebuds would be in for a much better treat without the need to wait on you. I am out.

First off, the McGirdles is really quite a delightful mix of sweetness with savoury goodness. I always knew that salty hash brown goes well with maple syrup, and this just confirmed the deal for me.

Highly recommend the Happy Box to be shared with a friend, unless you really, really, really, love chicken. If you are a lazy eater, the chicken meatball might be the solution for you. I appreciate the fact that I did not have to dip it into any kind of sauce since it was already loaded with pizza sauce. Was it phenomenal? Probably not so if you do not enjoy tomato based pizza sauce. Was it bad? Definitely not. As for the McWings, I would give them a miss and head right on to KFC. Sorry MacDees, but the Colonel has those chicken wings perfected to a crisp. Get the pizza bites and leave the McWings behind.

Look no further! This is the to-go bowl that is jam packed with ingredients every mouth!

Cost of this bowl of delicious delight? 30 minutes of queuing topped up with $6 in cash. Not for the impatient or those with a tight schedule. The main attraction is the variety of ingredients in the noodle, making a fantastic blend of taste for every spoon of noodles with the fried fish crunch and meat dumpling hidden amongst the minced meat, pork balls pork and pork offals.

What about the soup, you ask? Let the picture speak for itself. With the meaty bits in the soup, you know you are in for a good time in your mouth.

What is your favourite bowl of bak chor mee?

Your restaurant has done you proud.

Let’s start off with the pork belly. The crunch of the deep fried skin was great, not awesome but it definitely made the cut. The dish was also prepared to cater to an array of tastebuds - I for one did not fancy the aftertaste of pork, and the apple sauce at the side made a particularly good blend to mask the strong odour. Herbs were also hidden within the coils of the meat, making every mouth seem like a treasure hunt.

The Mac and Cheese was a pot of savoury goodness that would flood your taste buds as your tongue swims over the sea of cheesy waves.
Last but not the least... the Fish and Chips. Thick fries, thick batter. If you are starving, this would be the dish for you. Deep fried to perfection, though my only complain was finding a couple of fish bones in it... which also goes to show that this is not one of those fillet fishes one gets at the supermarket. Word of the wise, request for more of those tomato sauce. It looks good and tastes AWESOME with the fries.

Need something to wash down those food? I recommend the Spritz. The staff actually cautioned about the alcoholic content and being a lightweight, I got worried for a second. However, all of my worries were drowned out by the drink, with its refreshing taste of watermelon. Alcohol? What alcohol?

Was it cheap? Not particularly, but with the level of ambience, great service and that oompa-loompa tastiness in every bite, you would be amazed by how seemingly inexpensive it adds up. @bsksingapore
