This was some amazing beef rendang with strong flavours that came through - equivalent to or better than some higher-range restaurant outlets Iâd say. So cheap too!! Also loved the generous dollop of fresh oniony sambal atop any order of grilled eggplant.
I am now a fan of oat milk as a dairy alternative! They use a special brand of oat milk here made just for coffee-making. It stays milky, and doesnât overpower like soy. To top it off I think oat adds a new level of nuttiness (?) to the coffee!
Think oat milk will even better with a mocha too - will be back for more :-)
Liked the noodles which were well tossed and werenât dry. Also liked the chunky (and seasoned) fried wantons and char siew that came with good char. There was a long queue but it moved fast.
Am already craving this early in the morning. Was indeed a worthwhile buy!
Am typically against expensive bowls like this but caved because of the hot weather recently! This is Haakonâs Classic Açai with added almond nut butter (+$1). The açai blend froze well and melted into a slushy consistency unlike more watery mixes at other açai brands! Loved the granola also which was browned and has its crispiness come through the açai. 10/10!!! Think the nut butter balanced out the sweetness of the açai also.
Will get again when I feel like a treat :-)
steak, corn and beef salad, corn, whole egg, mashed carrot and sweet potato, brown rice, broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkin
The pumpkin/mashed carrot and sweet potato combination got jelat and similar tasting after awhile. Bbq sauce did not help too - it was far too strong, and tasted the same as the corn and bean salad. Most of the components were overwhelming and did not complement the unseasoned beef (which did fine by itself).
Will get a custom mix or the âGangnam Styleâ next time!
Wasnât spectacular! Portion was also slightly small for a main. Canât really comment on the texture either, because Iâve never had chee Cheong fun with egg.
However, this was nicely warm and slurpy, with nice soy sauce gravy. Will be back for the classic version so I can compare! For now, my heart still lies with Tim Ho Wan.
sirloin steak with sauce, fries and salad (not pictured)
Steak was pretty tough - it was more medium well than medium rare, even though we asked for the latter. The fries were standard shoestring fries served piping hot, and we enjoyed it very much with the unknown tangy sauce lathered over the steak. Imo the sauce saved the day (ask for more if youâd like) and made the mediocre steak a whole lot more enjoyable. Also - the restaurant was quiet and lovely, with great service :-)
Got this with Burpple Beyond!
This comes with good chilli sauce, and free flow cabbage soup! As good as lei cha can get. Opt between white or brown rice at no extra charge. From the corner store by Raffles Quay.
sautéed spaghetti wth sweet shrimp spicy XO sauce topped with shio konbu, onsen egg and ebiko
I havenât been a fan of many fusion spaghetti dishes, but this one did great! The kitchen was generous with bonito flakes and the sauce cut though well with a good amount of garlic and shallots. This was delicious and comforting. I donât usually enjoy Asian/Western fusion foods but this was great. Will return!
Service was odd though - asked for portion sizes and the service staff simply told us to âlook aroundâ.
brown rice, lemon dill salmon, jalapeño, pickled onions, corn, sous vide egg, pesto
Very refreshing bowl of classic baked salmon and my favourite pesto! Everything came together well. The beef bowl was however pretty dry/not very flavourful. Will be back for more pesto with Beyond (before 3pm only)!
triple cheese, shiitake mushroom, soy glaze
Preferred this over the Vato Mexican for its heavy flavours. Was also nothing spectacular imo, but a comforting bunch of flavours.
Hafudog scores with its great service and fresh ingredients, but Iâm not sure if Iâd return given the price point. Maybe yes if they come up with new flavours!
This was imo more wow-deserving than the hotdogs! Fries were perfectly crispy and freshly deep fried when we were there. This was very much above average - think the fries wouldâve been good plain also.
However we loved the fresh garlic seasoning, which was herby and salty and the same time. Ask for more salt if youâd like!
