Supper was such a treat last night. We hit up Yakiniku Jan Jan, located in the heart of the bustling Cuppage night scene. Their buffet selection includes high quality Japanese meats alongside Korean banchan and even cold noodles. The marinated Beef Short Ribs were my favourite!

Paying homage to the iconic shaker fries, IPPUDO has launched their own version named the Shaka Shaka Fries ($6.80) that lets you mix in the salted egg yolk powder into the bag of fries, give it a good shake before you enjoy this addictive snack. If you are looking out for some carbs, there’s the newly launched Teppan Rice that comes with crisp-fried ramen noodles, grilled wagyu beef ($13.80) or pork ($12.80) and a side of cheese lava sauce for you to pour in when served. There’s also the IPPUDO Spicy Chicken Wings ($8.80) and buns that contains salmon katsu ($4.50) or veggie patty ($4.50), served with three different sauces for you to choose from. And of course, you cannot not order their ramen when here, and my order of Shiromaru Motoaji hits all the right spots of a good bowl of comforting ramen noodles. To celebrate the opening of this new outlet, there’s a weekday lunch set promotion that runs till 14 October, in which you will get a ramen, side and drink for $15.90.

The rich collagen soup with a set of chicken/ seafood and sakura noodles was comforting, but I still prefer HDL's tomato soup base and customised ingredients.😋❤️ This place is a little on the pricey side without having the option to choose your preferred "basic" ingredients, and be prepared for long queues especially on rainy days! ☔️

Very light and crispy, not too greasy, the pork was pretty tender and juicy! And sets are available for less than $20, pretty good imo considering how many tonkatsu places are easily more than $20. The Nagoya miso sauce is served on the side so you can dip to your preference. I like that with a bit of mustard.

Monjayaki is a runnier version of okonomiyaki (think melted cheese consistency). You scrape it hot and gooey off the griddle with tiny spatulas. The mixed monjayaki ($16) has bacon, prawn and squid mixed in, and I recommend it because it means each bite has the texture of gooey monjayaki, crunchy prawn, bouncy squid and savory pork.

It's got a totally different mouthfeel and a starchier taste compared to okonomiyaki, but really fun to eat. Towards the end, the monjayaki gets caramelized on the grill, which results in being ridiculously crispy and delicious. Add a tiny dab of okonomiyaki sauce and bonito flakes for that final dash of seasoning.

Pro-tip: Don't order 1 okonomiyaki per pax; save space for the other dishes on the menu! I enjoyed the appetizers & sides more than the okonomiyaki, actually. Good variety & freshly cooked, served piping hot or cold as it should be.

Back at Ramen Keisuke Lobster King @ Clarke Quay last Friday!! (altho not a big fan of ramen but this place will somehow keeps me coming back for more) 😋 Went back to dig photos of my first visit and I'm glad that I actually backed up some of my previous shots since the recent factory reset of my phone 😌

Needless to say, their main selling point would be the lobster broth 🤤 Also, the free flow hard-boiled eggs and well seasoned beansprouts!! 💯 🍜 For the lobster broth ramen, you can choose how you like your noodles and broth to be!! I definitely like mine rich soup and less oil, the broth turns out to be indeed rich and savoury 😋 You can also add on flavoured egg(+$2) and seaweed(+$1) to complete your ramen!! 🙌🏻
The next time I'm here, I might order their stir fried mushroom with garlic and butter, it seems to appear on every other table beside us ☺️ .

Expected damage: From $14.90++
Ambience: 3/5, service tend to be quite slow
Food Rating: 8/10

Shabu Sai’s weekday dinner hotpot buffet is affordable at $22.99++ per person with free-flow pork, chicken and beef. There is also Wagyu Beef Buffet ($36.99++) for those who want a luxurious dining experience. Please read my review at www.hungryghost.sg

Stone-pot rice bowl with pan-fried and barbecued pork, spring onions, seaweed, raw egg and a drizzle of addictive secret sauce. Served very hot and tasty! Recommend at this ramen place!

To impress your group of friends on a budget, this buzzy joint along Upper Thomson is a surefire win! Picture high stools along a marble bar, neon signs and classy gold accents — setting the right mood for celebrations. There are even private rooms available for more intimate gatherings, though you'll have to call ahead to snag one. The Omote Chirashi Don ($12.80) is one for the books — a satisfying meal of slightly sweet rice served with a hearty mound of well-marinated sashimi. A good option for meat-lovers, the Spicy Yakiniku Don ($15.80) comes with sweet-savoury, tender beef slices and runny egg on warm rice.

This is to me, the perfect sidekick to have alongside their super shiok shio ramen 👍 it's nicely marinated and it has a good char to it 🔥
