Revisited one of my favourite stalls at Tekka Centre; have been craving for their Chicken Cutlet Noodles for quite a while since the Circuit Breaker because this is pretty much my go-to here. Auntie seems pretty chirpy during the day of my visit; perhaps glad to see some of the crowds and familiar faces returning back as the nation goes into Phase 2.

Found the Chicken Cutlet Noodles for that day to be pretty darn good even when compared to their usual standards (maybe I am just missing it too much); always liked their fried chicken — fried fresh to order, the chicken is always served hot and crisp on the exterior, and juicy inside whilst not being particularly greasy, and great to have on its own. I absolutely dig the noodles and the sauce it’s tossed in; the mix of sauce and chili being particularly old-school and being almost everything to love about the dish — the reason why I seemingly just end up with this item so often whenever I am here, considering the marriage of two of my favourite items done well going on the same plate together!

When comes to Thai noodle, the first place that comes to my mind is @kinmoo_tql . Great service from the Thai crews and the noodle EatsAwesome! Always wanted to try their Thai Wanton Mee but once I'm there, automatically will order this authentic Thai Noodle. Will head back for their Thai Wanton Mee soon. Rate them 4.8/5. Keep up the good work guys! You Rock!!

Must-gets are the fried meatballs and the oyster mushrooms! Head there about 130pm or after 2pm to avoid the scary lunch crowd.
Economic and delish. Try it at my favourite cafe 2nd level #bugiscube !!

I really liked this vege-loaded omelette (which looks a lot like a Korean pancake). The egg was fried till crisp on the outside, while the Acacia veg+egg mixture gave a nice bite with a spongy texture. Go easy on the Thai belachan dip though, it can be a little too salty.

Go for the thick version! One of the most satisfying tom yum soups I've had - just the right amount of spicy and tang, I actually finished all the soup from the huge bowl!

Our accompanying dishes, the Kang Kong and garlic pork, completed the entire me with perfection. I like how the garlic pork has bits of crispy garlic served with it, and is slightly sweet, which was the balance to the hearty soup.

The queue speaks for its affordability and popularity! Do remember they only take cash, so bring some for your meal!

Totally loved the fried chicken here because the marinade which had loads of "kunyit" (turmeric), was well absorbed into the meat. My serving of breast meat with partial wing attached was surprisingly tender and juicy. The batter coating was on the thin side which suited me fine because I prefer to taste more chicken than fried flour in every bite. As for the chilli sambal, it's fiery hot with a sweet and sourish tinge.
FYI - I had gone to the "Dapur Penyet" located at 23 Baghdad Street (it's right smack in the middle of the Kampong Glam district). For some reason, the geotag doesn't want to behave itself.

From Supreme Ramen Xiao Long Bao; a stall that is situated at Blk 46 Holland Drive that serves up Chinese Dumplings and La Mian. The Instagram profile claims that the stall is opened by a former chef of both Paradise and Crystal Jade.

Usually I am not really blown away by Chinese stalls like these in the heartlands but these XLBs are really legit — the skin withstands all the rough handling by the chopsticks without being for dense or thick; just the right proportion of skin for the size. It carries quite a fair bit of light and savoury soup inside; the dumplings eagerly burst of the soup with every bite, while the meat is pretty tender and soft to the bite. The XLBs come in a slightly larger size here than most places, and comes in sixes at $4.50 — very good value considering the quality you are getting here.

From the new branch of Jin Jin Dessert at Tekka Centre, known for its Gangster Ice and Power Chendol. Liked how they were so generous with all the condiments, from the Pandan jelly to the palm seeds. The best part would be the Gula Melaka though; that thick and fudgy sweetness that makes their version stand out — something I would go for again!

Had been trying various stalls serving Appam at Tekka Centre of the late; had not really tried every single stall serving up the item yet but the ones here from Sky Lab Cooked Food is probably the one I like the most for now.

Ordering the Plain Appam and Cheese Appam, I really liked how the Appam here comes with a crisp edge and a fluffy and somewhat chewy interior, bearing a texture rather similar to the "honeycomb" esque texture of our local variant of Peanut Pancake, yet carrying a tinge of sourness that is iconic to the dish itself — a yogurt-like tartness that makes it somewhat like the Indian crossover between the said local pancake and European sourdough. The cheese variant comes smacked with a slice of processed cheese over the top for a hint of savouriness, but the plain one comes with a choice of cane sugar or brown sugar; opted for the latter which melts into the hot Appam and provides an earthy and rich, malty and cocoa-like sweetness that is really alluring. While there are some stalls that I have yet to try their Appams from all over the island, this is a spot I would return to for that comforting Appam that I know I would not be disappointed from.

Bakery Brera isn't exactly the easiest place to get to without a car, but we recommend going down early in the morning for the best hot bakes. We're talking perfect-looking croissants, pain au chocolat, and Ferrero Rocher cruffins oozing with flavour. Burppler Ethel Tan likes their savoury items too. "Tried the ham cheese and onion scone for the first time this time and loved it too!" And don't get us started on their Basque Burnt Cheesecake.
