The new product of Dough Magic: 豆沙千层饼 (red bean paste pancake) is sooooo nice!
It’s nice not in a very traditional pancake way hahaha. The red bean paste is not sweet, it tastes very natural and healthy. The pancake is baked not fried, which is very attractive for someone who doesn’t like fried dough...
Price:1.5 SGD
They are also providing other new items like pizza pancake which I haven’t tried. Anyway, for this price, it worths trying.
❤️ the pocket-friendly dim sum items offered at this shop situated in a quiet corner of Bukit Batok Central. Some of my favourite items are the sinfully-crispy skin and soft, piping hot blocks of carrot cake; deep-fried, golden brown beancurd skin stuffed with flavourful shrimp filling as well as their soft, fluffy char siew bao and liu sha bao in petite-size that I can easily pop in my mouth and finish in a bite. 😀

It's a CURRY PUFF PAO! Super interesting because they have the insides of a curry puff but the skin of the pao!! A pretty clever invention I must say! And it taste pretty amazing too! 👏👏👏
Yam cake and assorted kueh (kueh kosui, sweet potato kueh, tapioca kueh)
Prefer the Bugis branch for the tam cake cos this is cold 😕 but still, lots of chunks of yam inside.
You ji

There’s something about you ji that attracts me back time and again . It’s not that the food is particularly excellent . Food is good I must say - but there’s just this magical 🧙♀️ feel about eating food prepared by the “ old” chefs .
Perhaps this is what michael Pollan in his book , “ cooked” describes as “ hand taste” - the extra care and details that the creator of the dish puts into it that makes it different . And I Guess this is why mum’s food always tastes better 😊
The peanut porridge is nothing but simple yet delicious . Not using canned peanuts but Fresh peanuts , this Omits the usual slightly sweet taste of peanuts sweetened by additives and sugar . The porridge was smooth but still retains some semblance of grains which makes it more enjoyable - really a skill to acquire .
The chee cheong fun is QQ and the magic is really in the temperature at which they serve their rice rolls. Too hot and they would be sticky and disintegrated, too cold and they would be hard .
These rice rolls were served right and were Q Q.
The home made chilli sauce is also really good and very traditional - not the sweet sambal kind but the more savoury and liquid type :)
I call this the everything white breakfast set ( just lacking my hot soy milk ) . Perhaps it is just how we have been accustomed to eating breakfast as children .
White seems palatable in the morning 😆. (White) toasted Bread , ( white) steamed hot paus, (white) soya bean milk , ( white ) bee hoon, ( white ) milk 🥛 , (white) bai tang gao ( these triangular sweet rice cakes), ( white) glutinous rice ....
White comfort food 😝
Still my ultimate favourite out of all the handmade noodles around! Used to love their mee hoon kway most, but my favourites in recent years are their ban mian and you mian for the chewier and springier texture.
It’s a must to get their fiery chilli sauce because it just complements the heavier black sauce so well!! Texturally, you get crunchy ikan bilis, meatballs, minced meat, greens and very thoroughly braised slices of mushrooms. The unassuming bowl of soup is comforting and flavourful, but I prefer the dry version cause you get the best of both worlds (and a more concentrated version of the soup).
Using more than 10 herbs, the broth is aromatic and light without having the overly herbal/ bitterness to it that might put some people off. Besides the tender pork ribs (that are cut into smaller pieces making them easy to eat), the soup also comes with cabbage, mushroom & beancurds. The beancurds soaked up the soup well, giving them a juicy flavourful bite. And if Marsiling is too far for you, fret not as there’s other outlets at ang mo kio & upper thomson ☺️

Batter was a bit sweeter than what we get usually but the crisp exterior was rather enjoyable! It stayed crisp throughout the whole time we were feasting on the other dishes on our table.

Great breakfast to perk up Thursdays
Abit too chewy and thick for me. The previous lady made it more crispy

$4 for 8 pieces of dumpling. Quite filling and tasty. The stall serves ban mian and fish soup
