Right after bouncing off the bouncy nets, I was greeted with the strong and unmistakable smell of glorious truffle. While we initially planned to head to Violet Oon, I knew that I would have spent the remainder of the day filled with regrets if I had ignored the overwhelming and alluring scent of truffle. I knew then and there, that we would dine at Herit8ge.
Safe to say, no ragrets.
Truffle Fries
For only $11, every bite was an explosion of fireworks in my mouth. The fries - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The best kind of McDonald's fries you could ask for. This truffle, though, was not like any other truffle I had eaten before. It was far from the usual cheap truffle-flavoured olive oil used in cafes. This truffle was so delightfully pungent that only true truffle-lovers can appreciate. Each fry was baptised evenly with it - top to bottom of the basket. I dont normally post, but I feel so strongly about this truffle fries that it would be wrong to hide it from the world.
Mala Popcorn Chicken ($14)
I expected the chicken to be covered with a thick batter, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it's thinly coated with breadcrumbs. Chicken to batter ratio was just right, and while the meat was lean, it was not dry. Also glad that it was not too spicy.
Beer battered Otah
Really great otah. You can see the chunks of fish meat inside. The beer coating was heavenly. Would have even liked it to be plain fish and chips because the batter was that outstanding.
Truffle Carrot cake sticks
Couldnt really taste the truffle. Cripsy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Its nice but I might give this a miss to try their other dishes next time.
Scramble Lyonnaise ($15)
Didn't have high expectations for this place because there didn't seem to be alot of reviews however I was pleasantly surprised by this dish!! Seemingly simple, the scrambled eggs was stringy, buttery and wet (like how all scrambled eggs should be). The wilted spinach really caught me by surprise, nicely seasoned and sauteed. Mushrooms were very sweet and fragrant as well. Potatoes on the side were flavourful albeit a bit too spicy for me since I don't normally eat spicy stuff. Great service and ambiance too, will be back again!
