I’m not a big fan of brunch. Paying $20 for eggs and toast? I’ll just head to the coffee shop. Here’s a few brunch places that I wouldn’t mind spending on!

Beautiful brunch in a beautiful cafe.

One of the many merits of Clan Cafe is definitely the ambience. The decor, the waitstaff uniforms, the music exude sophistication and also quality.

One such quality dish is the scrambled egg brioche. The fluffy scrambled eggs is heaven sent and the melted cheddar cheese elevates the dish to divine status. The caramelised onions were light, sweet and balanced out the savoury sriracha mayo spread on the beautiful brioche bun. The bacon was perfect and the protein made this an all round hearty dish for anyone craving for a good breakfast.

A formidable brunch that packs a punch.

The salted yolk chick n’ waffles is meant for the hungry and ambitious. Three golden crispy pieces of fried chicken, a block of charcoal waffles and a whole potato gratin definitely sounds like a mouthful.

I love the idea of southern fried chicken and waffles with a drizzle of maple syrup. It’s a beautiful combination further enriched with a small bowl of molten salted egg yolk sauce. But in this case, though the fried chicken was juicy, it lacked seasoning which thankfully the salted egg yolk sauce made up for. Also wish there was more maple syrup to balance the saltiness of the whole dish. But overall, it’s still a sweet deal for brunch considering the quantity of protein! Made even sweeter if you have a 1-for-1 Entertainer subscription.

Eggstraordinary eggs & snags that are indeed extraordinary.

Bearded Bella co-owner Regina mentioned that this brunch dish was inspired by a cafe in Melbourne and having it really did send me back to the city!

Each element of this dish worked so well together to create this hearty and scrumptious meal. For the eggs, they were beautifully coated in a light umami crispy crumb that encapsulated the rich golden runny yolks. The chicken harissa sausage entails a spicy and piquant flavour which balances the pleasantly tangy beetroot purée, the delightful bitter asparagus and the rocket leaves with thinly sliced parmesan. An overall grand slam of a brunch dish!
