The one key requirement of a good bowl of seafood soup is simple, fresh ingredients, well simmered soup stock. YanJi meets this requirement 100% and beat my expectation. Try the Giant Grouper Soup, so memorable... 🤗

Tze Char Bowl, fusion tze char in a very old authentic hawker centre. Its all going this direction. Full of wok hei on the tiny bowl of thin hor fun, topped with a sunny egg, its traditional tasting hor fun in a bowl. Can try!

Out of the world Char Siew & Roast Pork. The crackling is so crisp and flavorsome. Recommended!

Fishball Bak Chor Mee Soup

Compare to previous visit... now the portion is lesser and also all the meatball and liver are missing.

The taste of how Rojak should be, as I know it. There are many Rojak stalls in Singapore, some needs to queue, some very famous as well but its the taste that matters and I found it here.

There are two Rojak stalls in the same block, not the other.🤣

Seemingly a Thai Style wonton noodle, garnished with loads of proteins... charred char siew, sausages peppered with lard chips... give this noodle alot of omph...

The crowd is probably because of the super tasty soup based, treated fish slices (very Q) and the bee line never seems to stop

How to make wanton noodle hip? Seng’s took their famous wanton noodle apart, separate meekia, char siew and wonton and sell it in a hip environment with fast paced music in the background and bingo! You will get Wanton Seng’s Noodle Bar. Like the usually good noodle and fried wanton but the char siew is a little too fat and salty. The shrooms is good.

Finally got down to trying Bai Nian (I know I know, plus the fact that I’m here almost weekly 😂)! Queue’s always so long but the good thing is that the wait is relatively short, as they only serve one thing here - bee hoon yong tau foo. Unlike usual YTF places where you choose ingredients, Bai Nian’s come with a standard pick, just like my all time favourite Xiu Ji Ikan Bilis Yong Tau Fu in Chinatown.

Broth’s clear and savoury, but not too salty that it makes you thirsty. I opted out of their bitter gourd and the rest were good. Especially loved the handmade fresh prawn paste and meat ball! Wouldn’t say it’s the best around, but it was no doubt a very comforting bowl to have.

Request for additional bee hoon is complimentary and they also have a $5.50 bowl that comes with more ingredients. Aunty who was taking orders was very friendly too!

The one thing I love abt this stall is the take-as-much-as-u-want garlic. I wasn’t a Lor Mee fan until I came across this many years ago. Be prepared to queue. It’s long and never ending. But the light at the end of the tunnel was a beautiful garlicky bowl of thick noodles. The garlic made the quite ordinary thick gravy fabulous. And I loved biting into the fried fish topped with fresh garlic. Must add eggs.

One of the best kway chap in Singapore! The texture & bite of the “kway”, drowned in the slurplicious braise sauce, perfect! A wonderful combination with the flavorful braised meat & innard that has none of that weird “porky smell”. Watch out for queues during peak hours on weekends!
