Bakerzin’s Mixed Berry Tart ($4.80++) features fresh blueberries & strawberries, lying elegantly atop a layer of custard cream encased by a buttery tart shell. 😍😍😍 I really liked the crispy tart but you’ve been warned that it can get quite messy as it is almost mission impossible to cut through with a fork without demolishing the rest of the crispy tart! 😂
.
The savoury tart shell was lined with a thin layer of chocolate, whose sweetness was in contrast to the buttery crumbly base. 😋😋😋 While the slight tangy strawberries & juicy blueberries complemented the sweet creamy custard, we found the dessert to still be too sweet on a whole. However, this is coming from us who drinks teh-o kosong or soybean with 0% sugar, so the sweetness level could actually be just nice for the masses. 🤣
.
Still a yummy dessert that I enjoyed the indulgence. 💕 Thank you @jc0513 @thuiminn @fadedskyyy for the birthday treat! 😘😘😘

🤣
.
Nested along Balestier Road is Le Xiao Chu, a restaurant offering seafood & tze char dishes at a relatively affordable price. Bright, spacious, clean & air-conditioned - this sure is a comfy place for a meal. 😊 It opens till 4.30am so this makes yet another potential supper spot!
.
Here are some of the dishes that we tried:
.
🔹️Cai Po Beancurd 菜脯豆腐 ($10/$18) - Preserved radish was fried to the perfect golden brown & lay in abundance atop the soft & silky smooth tofu. 🤩 Glad that the soy sauce wasn’t too salty as the cai po added some savoury flavours besides a nice crunch! My favourite dish! 💕
.
🔹️Sambal Lady’s Finger ($10/$16) - the ladyfingers were well-prepared with less slime flowing all over. Sambal chilli gave a nice spicy kick & was extremely fragrant after stir-frying with dried shrimps & onions etc. Went very well with rice! 😍😍😍 This was a close fight for my top spot.
.
🔹️Prawn Omelette ($10/$14) - pretty light & fluffy, liked that it was not overly greasy. 👍🏻 However, there weren’t many prawns so not really value-for-money IMO.
.
🔹️Baby Kai Lan ($10/$16) - liked this too! A simple dish of baby kai lan stir-fried with savoury salted fish & fragrant garlic. 😋
.
🔹️Ginger Chicken Cube ($12/$24) - tasted surprisingly sweet instead of savoury. Texture of the chicken cubes were quite tough too. Coupled with the fact that I’m not a fan of ginger, I didn’t really like this. 😔
.
I think the best part would be the ambience & comfort - u can safely sit here & catch up with family & friends over decent fuss-free & homely dishes. They have a 10% discount from 11am-5pm (for dine-in only, excludes set meals & crabs), which is not a bad deal! ✌🏻
.
More info on 3 other signatures in the next posts! 😉

🤩🤩🤩
.
A spin-off from the classic Bibimbab, this hot stone bowl ($8.90) from Patbingsoo comprises warm steamed rice with juicy pork belly / beef / popcorn chicken, kimchi, eggroll with seaweed, lettuce & carrots, topped with strips of dried laver & sesame & served with gochuchang sauce. 🤤🤤🤤 I really like how all the elements come together harmoniously to form a robust-tasting mixed rice! 💕
.
Switching up the spinach, beansprouts & a sunny-side up for some skillfully-prepared eggrolls, I’m glad the lettuce & carrots gave the rice the nice crunch that I always look forward to in my Bibimbab. 😋😋😋 The soft white rice perfectly absorbed the gochuchang sauce, which presented a good spicy kick amidst the sweet-savoury tones. 👍🏻
.
Wished for the meats to be more tender (probably a little tougher as the sweet sauce caramelised while I couldn’t help but snap away with my HP 🤣) but I must say that they were extremely well-marinated! Loved the sweet flavours which complemented the spicy gochuchang really well. ✔
.
Overall, the taste profile & layering textures resonated very well with me. Definitely something I would order on my next visit - probably gonna try the Bibimbab for more veggie intake! 💚💚💚

🍫
.
I must say that this limited edition Chocolate Cheese Tart (now till 31mar) from my all-time favourite BAKE is really good! 😍😍😍 The same lusciously smooth & creamy cheese mousse infused with rich cocoa flavour without overpowering each other. Who would hav thought chocolate & cheese could complement each other so well! 💯
.
The subtle bittersweet also neutralises the richness of the cheese filling (in a good way), making the overall taste more well-balanced. Not too sweet, savoury or cheesy, just the way i like it! 💕

My fav part is the crispy buttery crumbly tart shell which is also chocolate-infused. TASTES SO GOOD & adds a good crunch to the soft filling. ❤ I think i'd rate this to be on par with the original cheese tart! 👍🏻 Thank you @just_stitch for the vday & bday treat! 😊

🤣
.
Feeling heaty & fat from all the non-stop feasting in the Land of Smiles, we opted for a lighter meal. 😊 With homely soups & homely dishes, this is no doubt a nice place to go when u're missing home-cooked food! 💕
.
I had their ABC 排骨汤 (carrot, potato, tomato + pork ribs, $9.80++) & it was 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻! Robust-tasting savoury broth with generous amount of ingredients, this well-simmered soup was full of natural sweetness! 😋 The tender pork ribs were thoughtfully de-boned for easy eating! ✌🏻
.
Also ordered some zichar dishes for sharing:
🔹️Sambal Kangkong with cuttlefish ($13.80++): yay to spicy kick! 🌶 Goes very well with white rice! 🔹️Stir-fried eggs with tomato ($9.80++): full of ketchup sweetness! Not bad but i still like my mum's version with only fresh tomatoes used 🍅
🔹️Prawn rolls ($11.80++): quality is there as there are actual sizeable shrimp bits in there! 👏🏻 Decent but i found it a little too hard.
.
Albeit a bit pricey for the portion (+$1.20 for a bowl of rice, +$2 for a barley wintermelon/lemon aloe vera drink), service was fast & this got our hungry tummies filled in no time! ✔

Crispy FRIed Chicken ($16+) is one of the signatures of Park Bench Deli & it’s not difficult to see why. ❤❤❤ To me, it was more like a burger than a sandwich! 🍔
.
Featuring a thick slab of buttermilk fried chicken 🐔, shredded fresh lettuce, fragrant garlic aioli & chipotle honey dressing, sandwiched between 2 lightly-toasted brioche buns, this was definitely deserving of a spot on my top list. 💯💯💯
.
Especially like the buttermilk fried chicken - lightly breaded & fried to the perfect crisp on the outside, the well-marinated meat remained so moist & tender inside! 🤤🤤🤤 Amidst the firm bite, u’ll get the irresistible crunch & juices, just like how I’d enjoy a piece of good fried chicken. 💕
.
The buns were barely holding the generous ingredients in! But this being so good, I really wouldn’t mind the mess. Sinful, maybe yes, but I’d gladly indulge in this anytime! 😋😋😋
.
& if u havnt already know, u can enjoy a 1-for-1 deal on their sandwiches with #BurppleBeyond! That’s so worth it! 👍🏻

Living up to the name of BIG Fish Small Fish, this HUGE slab of sea bass definitely took the centrestage for this Sea Bass Fish & Crisp ($11.90) 😍😍😍 Featuring crispy batter encasing soft, tender & juicy flaky fish, im totall loving this yummy thick cut that wasnt not fishy at all! 😋
.
Cant rave more abt their free-flow sauces! 💕 Unfortunately there wasnt my fav Curry Mayo so i went for the classic chilli sauce, Salted Egg sauce & Cheese! ✌🏻 These sauces definitely spiced up the potato slices which were fried to the perfect crisp! 🤤
.
Sinful indulgence! 🐷🐷🐷

Sweet and Sour Pork is a must-order at zichar stalls for my family and East Bistro just aced it with their rendition of Iced Sweet and Sour Pork ($18[S], $27[M], $36[L]). 🌟🌟🌟
.
This is definitely something different from what you get elsewhere as the tomato-based sauce has been cleverly swapped up by hawthorne sauce. 💕 This dish leans towards the sweet side, which I personally felt would be better if it was more tangy for a balance. The deep-fried pork, however, was well-executed - crispy skin and not overly tough. 😋
.
What is the purpose of the ice, u may ask. Well, it lent a helping hand in securing the sauce onto the meats & retaining the crisp, while the pork remained warm inside. ✔ What an ingenious idea! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Besides their CNY menu, you would be equally delighted to indulge in East Bistro’s mouthwatering dishes in their ala carte menu. ✌🏻 East Bistro prides themselves for their dimSUM too, & this Rice Rolls with Dark Sauce would be a great starter to your meal. 🤩🤩🤩
.
When it was served, I almost mistook it for XO Carrot Cake as it bore an uncanny resemblance! 🤣 Featuring silky smooth rice rolls stir-fried with dark sauce, topped with crunchy beansprouts, this one carried a bit of wok-hei that got me wanting more. 🤤🤤🤤
.
Heard that their “mushroom” char siew bao & egg yolk custard croissant are good too! 💕 Will give those a try on my next visit!

❤❤❤
.
Mushroom burgers/sandwiches are pretty common but this Mushroom Melt from Park Bench Deli ($16+) is certainly one of the better ones that I’ve had! 👏🏻
.
Here u’ll get a mix of shimeiji, portabello, white button that all boasts of deep earthy flavours & extremely juicy on every bite! 🤩🤩🤩 The melted creamy mozzarella cheese adds a fragrant milky flavour which was extremely appetitsing. 🤤 The overall taste profile is perfectly balanced with the addition of tangy balsamic glaze, astringent & minty arugula (rockets), sweet-savoury caramelised onions, aromatic garlic aioli & crusty toasted rye bread. A great play of textures too. 💕
.
Nothing too complex but Park Bench Deli aced it. With #BurppleBeyond, u get to enjoy 1-for-1 deal on their yummy sandwiches! 😋

You're still my number 1! 🌞 The creamy goodness of the perfect ratio of different cheeses that is velvety smooth, coupled with savoury buttery double-baked crust that is crispy & bears an alluring aroma, has made this a heavenly but dangerous addiction! 🤩
.
This seasonal special - Shiruko (red bean) & Walnut really aced it further! ❤❤❤ It was akin to eating a good anpan bread with cream cheese, not overly sweet as the savoury perfectly balanced out the sweetness. 😋 Those who saw my IG story wld be able to see the cross-section - lots of red bean (nt just the top!) 💕 Love it!
.
Only available till 10 Feb so grab it before it's gone! 😉
.
Thanks @just_stitch for this treat!! I will 'take revenge' to fatten u up too, u've been warned! 🤣

❤❤❤
.
Attractive in crimson red, the soft & mochi-like chewy glutinous rice skin encases a rather substantial amount of mung bean filling! 😍😍😍 Finely-ground, aromatic & sweet, this is why i always love these traditional classic filling (or my fav peanut filling 💕). Old-school tastebuds i have hahaha 🤣
.
Lovers of ang ku kuehs out there, helloooo! 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️
