Loving these char siew baos from Fortunate Restaurant ($1.10 each)! 😍😍😍 With a nice dough-filling ratio, I absolutely enjoyed these soft & fluffy buns! Liked how they remained moist & pillowy after steaming! 👍

The star would have to be the CHAR SIEW filling! I can never really resist them; be it in steamed buns, crusty buns, breads or pastries, I LOVE THEM ANYWAY! ❤ The smokey roasted aroma adds so much brownie points to the already alluring sweet & savoury BBQ pork.. tender bits of a balanced lean-fat ratio is key too! ✌🏻

Crafted with love, @littlecreatures_sg makes some smooth & aromatic coffee that is not too acidic. 👌🏻 My cup of latte ($4.50++) is so fragrant that you can even smell it from a distance before it is served! 🤤 Coupled with the light milk froth & pretty latte art 😍😍😍, this is exactly the kind of cuppa I'd like to to perk myself up! 👍🏻

If you do not already know, saffron is a luxurious spice that makes rare appearances in dishes due to its high cost. 💰 To be honest, I still cannot pinpoint how saffron tastes like, but if the saffron is the main star in achieving the taste of this creamy pasta, I can safely say that I LOVE IT! ❤❤❤

This plate of Stracci Ai Gamberi E Capesante ($27++) was really the star of the table! ⭐⭐⭐ My first time trying a saffron cream base! Features fresh handmade pasta with scallops, prawns, green peppercorn with saffron cream sauce. 😍

I applaud the homemade pasta that is thin but with a good texture & chew so it doesn’t feel overly starchy. 😋😋😋 Smooth & luscious cream sauce coating every slice of this chewy pasta is simply heavenly. The green peppercorns are no longer spicy but add a pleasant popping sensation when you bite into them. 👍🏻

There is room for improvement in the seafood though! Both the textures of the prawns & scallops were decent but I could not taste any natural sweetness from both of them at all. 😔 It was quite a disappointment compared to the pasta & sauce that really shone!

My advice is to SHARE this plate with someone as its 100% richness might burden your palate a bit. No matter how good a food item is, it’s always best to keep it at a small portion. Otherwise, this is a MUST-TRY at Pasta Brava in my opinion! 💕 What’s more - you can enjoy this at 1-for-1 for a 3-course meal using #BurppleBeyond - so worth it! ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Sharing with you all my favourite starters at Strangers’ Reunion - their Roasted CauliFLOWER Salad ($14.50++)! ❤❤❤ Not just me but it was almost unanimous that it was deserving of a top favourite! ✅

Never would I have imagined this unassuming vegetable to be able to pull it off as a premium ingredient on a plate so nicely! 🤩🤩🤩 Here you’ll get to enjoy cauliflower done 2 ways - one charred to yield caramelised florets with deep hazelnut notes, while the other’s pickled in rice wine vinegar with black pepper & bay leaves. 👏🏻

While both renditions were remarkable, I was really impressed by the smoky flavours of the former! 🤤 The florets also retained the iconic crunch of the vegetable while being sufficiently soft for a good bite. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Laid on a bed of creamy pine nut labneh, grapes, pomegranate, toasted pine nuts, mint leaves & homemade honey mustard, this is epitome of a harmonious mix of flavours & textures. 💯

Yishun 925 Hainanese Chicken Rice has certainly carved out a name for itself in the chicken rice league - good & affordable! 👍🏻

Their chicken breast meat was surprisingly tender! 😍 Liked that the rice was fragrant without being overly greasy. The savoury 'zhup' of the chicken enhanced the flavours of the aromatic rice too! 💕

Chilli sauce is a crucial condiment when it comes to chicken rice & they do it right! ✔ With a good spicy kick, this is the type that i like - not too garlicky as im not a fan of garlic. Both the slight tangy notes & spice of the chilli and refreshing crunchy achar on the side effectively cut the oily mouthfeel, making the dish a very palatable one. 😋😋😋

Well, I’m always losing the battle when facing desserts so what’s new right?! 😂😂😂 My ideal waffles have to be perfectly crispy on the outside while remaining moist & substantial inside (not too fluffy nor dense), with the buttery waffle flavours filling your mouth in every bite. 💕 Honestly speaking, the waffles here at Non-Entrée was not impressive, just decent. So let’s just focus on the ice cream! 😎

The good quality of the ice cream was evident from the relatively slow rate of melting! 👏🏻 Both my scoops were lusciously creamy & flavourful so let me introduce them:

🔹️BLACK SESAME: having an old-school tastebud, I absolutely LOVED this! ❤❤❤ Extremely smooth & full of the nutty flavours of black sesame, be prepared to have the fragrance of black sesame linger in your mouth for some time. 🤤 Liked that it was not overly sweet either so it just tasted intensely rich & authentic to its raw form (excluding any unpleasant sandy texture) - a testimony to the generosity of ingredients used. 💯

🔹️PISTACHIO: a less aromatic version compared to black sesame, this is still an enjoyable creamy treat with a strong hint of the nutty tones of pistachio. 💚 Would have loved for the pistachio flavours to be more pronounced though, as that would really complement the warm buttery waffles really well. 👍🏻

They offer many different ice cream flavours, some that boast of local flavours such as Gula Melaka, Pandan Kaya & even White Rabbit (remember the chewy milk candy we used to eat when we were young? ⭐). You’ll be spoilt for choice! This waffles with 2 scoops of ice cream ($13.75 nett) will be good for sharing! 👌🏻

Here you will not find your typical Pizza Hut thick crust here 🍕🍕🍕 as their Romana pizzas translate to bigger, thinner & crispier pizzas. They were indeed big & thin, crispy ONLY when served hot. 💕 It might be due to the strong air-conditioning in the shopping mall but just 10mins in, the crusts started to lose its crisp. 😔😔😔 Doesn’t help that all the pizzas were served all at 1 go. As time went past, the pizza base hardened so much that it became a challenge to eat with a fork & knife. Totally unpliable & soggy! 😭 An utter disappointment.

Went with the chef’s recommended Hawaiian ‘PizzaExpress’ ($26++) but it turned out to be the least of our favourite. 😂 Looking nothing like a typical Hawaiian pizza with pineapple cubes, this rendition featured ham with pineapple chutney, mozzarella, red onion, fresh basil, parmesan & garlic oil on a creamy béchamel base, finished with fresh parsley. I hereby conclude that I still very much prefer my usual fare. 💯

Bearing resemblance to the pineapple jam on your CNY pineapple tarts, the pineapple chutney 🍍🍍🍍simply screams SWEET & landed the pizza on the sweet side. If only it was more tangy for a refreshing change! The Parmesan which was only slightly savoury did not help in neutralising the sweetness much. 🧀 Worse still, the cheese topping & béchamel sauce started clumping up after a short while & its texture, coupled with the soggy crust, was simply unpleasant. ❌❌❌

Anyone else had a similar or entirely different experience? 🤔 Should I be giving them a second chance?

As always, sambal is always the best way to cook kang kong vegetables in my opinion! 🔥🔥🔥 This plate of 马来风光 costs us $9 (retailed at $6/9/12; we had medium for 6 pax), which on hindsight would have just cost us less than a fraction of the price if we cooked this at home. 😂

Can’t really go wrong with the vegetables so it’s really the sauce that determines the success or failure of the dish. 👍🏻 This was a decent rendition to me, of a modest spice level (thought it could be slightly spicier) & sufficiently savoury. 🌶 Can’t really taste the fragrance from the dried shrimps (probably used quite little cuz those are costly) but I do get the aroma from the shallots & garlic. 😋😋😋

While I still enjoyed this plate of kangkong with my white rice 🍚, this certainly is a far cry from my mum’s stir-fried sambal belachan kang kong, which often comes with an abundance of dried shrimps & fresh cuttlefish! 💕 Craving for those now! 🤤

Priced at $16++, this features curly pasta in mushroom cream sauce with an abundance of mushroom mix, slices of haus bacon & topped with generous shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. 😍😍😍

There is absolutely no scrimping on ingredients as the sauce screamed MUSHROOMS! 🍄🍄🍄 Almost like a reduction of Soup Spoon’s mushroom soup, it was extremely rich & creamy! 😋 Definitely good for sharing but it can get too surfeiting to finish on one's own due to the intense flavours. Sharing is caring ya! 💯

Featuring the iconic pink rice flour skin 😍 encasing savoury chewy glutinous rice fried with peanuts & dried mushrooms, these Teochew png kuehs (2 for $2.40) were certainly delish! ✌🏻 Got the uncle to cut it up for my convenience! 😉

While the glutinous rice was rather fragrant & not overly sticky, i felt that that they could definitely be more generous with the ingredients! 🤣 The skin was slightly too thick as well.

Nevertheless, the generous drizzle of sauce made up for everything! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The chilli sauce with a little spicy kick & the sweet dark soy sauce immediately elevated the taste profile of this savoury kueh by a few notches! 💯
