Cafes
Located in the least expected of places, this cafe is truly a hidden gem.
Coffee was excellent, deep and robust. The Smoked Salmon was also delicious, complemented with diced tomatoes, a brilliant sauce, and beautifully done poached eggs. Only wished it opens on Sundays too!
Beautiful cafe located by the Hilton Hotel pool, it was a great afternoon spent with good food and loved ones
The highlight of this dish was the sauce. Unassuming at first sight, I particularly enjoyed the fresh and tangy sauce - from the fresh tomatoes I suppose! Great ambience, good food, a great place to chillax and catch up.
Situated atop Hilton Hotel along Orchard road, the restaurant is a fine cosy place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
The chicken is of a tougher variety, with well seasoned and extremely fresh vegetables; we really enjoyed our meal here. Thought it was quite worthwhile as well considering that the set meal included a starter and a main course. There was also a small basket of bread and crackers (provided FOC), but I only realised later that the water cost $12 (hahah). Nevertheless, really loved the ambience here, 'twas great to spend the afternoon in the armchair overlooking the blue sky and sparkling pool, sipping my coffee (part of set meal) while engaged in great conversation.
Grabbed lunch with the family at Skinny Pizza since we happened to be in the area.
Squid ink was used to make both the sauce as well as the crispy thin crust - the crust was so good dad tried to compare it to keropok, but soon realised this was not only much thinner, but also tasted so different. The toppings of seafood and rockets were also fresh. Delicious meal overall!
Heard about fatboy's years ago and finally got the chance to try this place! I took so long to go through the extensive menu, before settling on this seemingly classic burger.
A good burger of thick juicy beef patty, crisp sesame buns, with cheese and sweet onion marmalade. Fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside. Wishing there was more vegetables, but then again, I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it at all. A great place for meat-lovers!
Returned to Utown for a gathering with my college friends one evening, and selected this restaurant for the occasion. Despite spending huge amounts of time in Utown during these days, cash-strapped us barely ate at this restaurant then.
This restaurant was good with its wide variety of pasta dishes. For this particular dish, salmon was stuffed within each packet of pasta, in a rich cream sauce. There was also a generous amounts of shrimp. Service was also great, at a reasonable price. Good spot for gatherings!
Our attention was drawn to the "Michelin Guide Tokyo 2015" article on the front door - turns out one of their stalls in Japan was featured in that Michelin Guide! Curious us decided to venture in despite it seeming rather empty.
And boy, were we glad we did so! We were first served free flow salad, super crunchy and fresh, and tasted great with the sesame dressing. The chicken fillet was tender, and a light batter made it crispy but not too oily. The mentaiko sauce was really strong, and went well with the fillet. Enjoyed the meal, and will be back on a Monday - Thursday to get the lunch set!
Saw so many tempting pictures from this stall that we couldn't help but jump on the bandwagon and try it ourselves one evening! Well, seems like many people had the same thought too. So even though it's already 8pm, we still waited for about 30min before we got our seats and started eating.
The noodles were a bit too starchy for my preference, but I know people who enjoy this taste. Nevertheless, i still enjoyed all the side dishes, fried chicken, cha shu, pork, egg - were all really good!
Always enjoy a good squid ink dish when chilling with friends - a flavourful dish that's great fun as well!
This was no exception. The risotto had a surprising truffle taste, soft shell crab was crispy, and was also glad to see that the black ink wore off my teeth and lips by the end of the meal. Found it a little pricy, but decent overall.
Decent pancakes, rather dense, and enjoyed the banana slices within the pancake as well!
The set came with a soup, garlic bread, and drink.
Pasta came in a large serving. I liked that it was spicy. There was also a good variety of drinks to choose from, more than the typical tea and coke. I chose an earl grey.
The smooth egg with its yolk still flowing came as a pleasant surprise. The pork katsu came in thick slices with a crispy crust. Definitely a good meal even at this promotional price.
