New Restaurants, Cafes and Bars in Singapore: January 2019
Taking over the now-defunct Salt Tapas Bar, this new spot takes pride in their healthful variety of both plant-based and meat dishes. The vibes remain smart casual, fit for after-work dinners with a chummy date. On food, Burpplers are loving the Harissa Spiced Spatchcock ($29) for its spot-on execution and deliciously smoky flavour combi.

Well-suited for group gatherings, this open-air space houses three concepts, including the well-loved Thai Jing Jing (yes, they're back!). The rice sets are still as good, and they each come with zingy tom yum soup and an oozy fried egg. Go for the Stir-Fried Basil Minced Chicken ($8) or the fragrant Deep-Fried Garlic Pork ($8), and share the frilly, fluffy Crispy Omelette (from $8) too.

Set within multi-concept lifestyle venue SIRI HOUSE, this new restaurant hits the mark for simple fare done with finesse — dress up for a night out with friends! Start with the addictive Chicken in a Biscuit ($12), loaded with chicken fat, skin and spiced cream cheese. Burppler Jonathan Wong also recommends the Handmade Pappardelle ($30) with luscious crustacean sauce.

Though it opened quietly over in Jurong Kechil early this year, this serene, homey spot of a cafe has already won over several Burpplers. The coffee's good, with interesting blends by in-house Quarter Life Roasters (previously at The Moon). On food, expect hearty mains like a Chicken Parmigiana ($15) as well as build-your-own brunch items. Bring a book for company.
