The soup base itself is white and diners had to add the chilli paste by themselves and tweak the spiciness according to their preferred taste. I found this to be quite a decent bowl of curry mee and it indeed warmed up my tummy on a hot and humid day!

Legend has it that the lorbak at khengpin cafe is the best in Penang. But I’m here to tell you that this legend might just be a fairytale after all. Found the lorbak to be pretty average - I remember eating at a random lor Bak stall elsewhere when I was in Penang previously and it was better than this!

Woke up really early for breakfast here. We were greeted by 2 lovely ahmas with lovely smiles sitting on their stools upon our arrival. They didn’t speak much - it was mostly a younger girl who served us the curry mee. The soup was spicy and packed a huge punch - do ask for less chilli if you’re not good at handling your spice!

Located beside the boy on chair mural along lebuh Armenian, we overheard the tour guide saying that this was the most expensive coconut ice cream in Penang 😂 but we were just so parched from the heat that we ordered one to share.

The popiah here looks the same, but tastes very different from the ones back home in Singapore. Served Penang style, the roots of this popiah originate from fujian province, where most penangites come from. Doused in seafood gravy, I was surprised when I was greeted with a moist and soggy popiah instead of the dry ones back in Singapore. There are also small pieces of crab meat which the owner painstakingly peeled from flower crabs.

We were given the option of choosing either clear or milk soup, and we opted for the milk version. Loved the soup which was thick, creamy, and warm - perfect for a rainy day. Fish was tasty and the batter had been seasoned. The highlight for me were the fresh homemade meatballs and fishcake!
