This is one solid bowl of prawn mee?? The soup is so robust in flavour that it really tastes like the whole ocean of prawns have been brewing inside since the beginning of time 😍😍 Definitely a must try when you’re around the jurong west area! Ingredients are simple with sliced chicken and small prawns, but the soup really brings all these simple ingredients together for the perfect comfort bowl of prawn noodles 👍🏻👍🏻
Quite a nice place for Malaysian-type herbal BKT but 2 little issues. Firstly, location is really really ulu and prolly closer to Malaysia than most of SG. Secondly, the herbal taste was a little light and not as flavourful and wholesome as I expected. (And one thing missing was the garlic bits in the soup!!! But it did come with some button mushrooms) Preserved veg was not as sour as I would have liked, but is good for people who find normal ones too strong. Price is very reasonable for the portion and quality, and the ribs are a little tough but not as hard as some other famous BKTs. Not really foodking-good but definitely a nice place to satisfy any herbal BKT craving in SG! 😋😋
What can I say, one can rarely go wrong with satay grilled with patience and dunked in thick satay sauce 😍😍 Really satay with not too much burnt bits and definitely try their pork ones!
Though definitely a good plate of orh luah, the taste wasn’t as robust as I would have liked with very little starchy bits and few oysters. Chili was nice with a nice citrusy spicy kick, which definitely helped to salvage the slight lack of oomph in flavour 🙃🙃
Definitely the ultimate must order at Bedok 85! Forget about sharing a bowl to try more food cause this is where you should invest all your stomach space at. Can absolutely find no fault with this beautiful bowl of goodness - from the rich broth with minced meat bits and fried pork lard, to the ultra chewy noodles that redefine QQ-ness, definitely unanimously our favourite dish of the night 💯💯
Though the lesser known stall between the two sambal stingray stalls at Bedok 85, this place does dish out a solid plate of sambal stingray! A Bedok local recommended this to us, and we were absolutely in love with this 😍😍 Thick juicy fleshy chunks of stingray topped with amazing sambal, with strong hints of dried shrimp while not being too spicy 🤤🤤
Must say that the first thing that catches my attention is the generosity in serving size 👍🏻👍🏻 Great value for just $10! Can’t say it’s the best Char Shao Shao Rou around, but the roasted pork was pretty well done with really crispy crackling skin! 🤤🤤 Char Siew could have had more charred-ness, and wow the burnt end of one of the shao rou was the ultimate foodgasm, but sadly not for all. Love the generosity of roasted meat places here and they’re all generally pretty decent!
Definitely a good plate of Hokkien Mee though not the best! This plate of Hokkien Mee definitely slants more towards the wetter type and is generous with the portion, especially the ingredients (prawns, dish cakes, sotong, kai lan). But the broth. Oh wow the broth. The broth was really flavorful and definitely carried the dish for miles and miles 🤤🤤 Prices range from 3/4/5/6 and also love that it’s highly customizable! (Overheard a patient replacing the prawns with fish, great for those with allergies!)
Totally lived up to all that hype!!! 😍😍 Been hearing my friends rave about this place for so long, so finally decided to come down and try it for myself! Love the silky smooth handmade rice roll blankets that covered Char Siew bits! Preferred the prawn one as the small bits of Char Siew were a little sparse, but overall still very very tasty 😋😋 Definitely give this a try if you’re at pekkio and they usually sell out by 1+pm so go early!
Totally lived up to all that hype!!! 😍😍 Been hearing my friends rave about this place for so long, so finally decided to come down and try it for myself! Love the silky smooth handmade rice roll blankets that snugly envelope fresh juicy prawns! Generous with its ingredients, it’s definitely superior to normal ccf and worth every cent of the slightly higher price (the difference isn’t even much tbh). Definitely give this a try if you’re at pekkio and they usually sell out by 1+pm so go early!
Porridge looked really promising initially (especially when walking past tables of people happily slurping it down) with the grain-less appearance suggesting that it had probably been simmered over a long time. However, the first mouthful was slightly disappointing as it wasn’t as flavourful as I had expected. Pretty average porridge at this price point, plus ingredients weren’t particularly generous (3 meatballs, 4 youtiao parts, half a century egg) or impressive (youtiao wasn’t crispy, meatballs were very average). Maybe I’m not ordering the right dish, but expected more of this much raved about dish ☹️☹️ If you want a solid bowl of porridge, so check out Sin Heng Kee Porridge instead!
Pictured here is the large, which still wasn’t enough cause it was just so good!! 😍😍 Meekia was springy and tasty (without the pungent alkaliney taste of some egg noodles), but even amazing noodles can get outshone by broth that is this good?? Infused with the oil of the fatty minced pork and the garlicky + lardy bits, every mouthful was a big hug for the soul 🤤🤤 Meatballs were very normal and leaves more to be desired, but definitely a very comforting bowl of soup bakchormee for supper cravings 😋😋
