We found this small, unassuming little coffee joint tucked away near bras basah complex, near Bugis and the National Library. It was helmed by a really friendly couple, and when we took the first sip of the flat whites we ordered, we were completely blown away. The coffee taste was so so strong and rich, and the flavour was impeccable. So many flat whites I’ve had elsewhere are simply disappointing, with too much milky taste and only a light coffee flavour. The coffee here was so impressive, and we were exclaiming in awe with every sip. Will definitely be back again!

Had The Works (full breakfast) and the Wagyu beef burger here. The full breakfast was simply amazing! The two giant pieces of bacon were unlike the regular, thin bacon most brunch places provide; the bacon was incredibly thick and juicy, almost reminiscent of a tender pork chop. The scrambled eggs were perfectly well done (you can choose your type of eggs - scrambled, poached, sunny side up) and the roasted mushrooms, greens (with the mustardy avo guacamole) were all so good! I’d definitely recommend this very thoughtfully put together full breakfast. The Wagyu beef burger was not bad, but definitely not the best burger I’ve had (my standards for beef burgers are really high though). Love their strong-tasting chilli sauce which is definitely not the typical cheap fast food kind of chilli sauce many places provide. Lovely meal here, will definitely be back! 👅

Had my usual dish, the mushroom bacon carbonara, and my friend had the cereal prawn pasta. I felt that the mushroom bacon carbonara was a lot more bland that day, and lacked the powerful creamy flavour it usually has. I feel like I remember it to be better than this; not sure if it was a more bland, bad day or my tastebuds.

Second time here and I had to get this again; I love the consistency of the smashed avocado and the slightly citrused flavour. One gripe would that I really wish it came with a side (even a small one would do) of mushrooms or maybe ham/bacon, as it got a little bland towards the end with just eggs, avo and bread alone. Adding roasted mushrooms costs $5 sadly :-( this is still a great dish though! I just wish the flavours could be a little more multidimensional.

I always have to order this when I’m here, it’s so simple and good. Nicely buttered, soft grilled bread oozing with melty, chewy cheese, with a dipping sauce of tomato soup. I’d recommend getting this to share with friends as a snack, to complement your main brunch dish.

I loved this French toast. The caramelised banana was amazing - with the layer of caramel giving the banana such a crunch, as well as the strong burnt caramel flavour that was an absolute delight. The French toast was soft and fluffy, and the fruits were incredibly sweet as well. Choice to add ice cream for $4! We didn’t as we ordered both brunch items together and we were afraid it would melt. I think the French toast could still be more buttery and sinful though, but that’s just my inner glutton speaking and me nitpicking. Great dish 👏🏻

Had the big brekkie with burpple beyond 1-for-1 and it was pretty good! I’ve always loved one man coffee for their absolutely no-frills brunch - great prices, no service charge or GST, great cozy vibes and service. I’ve been here quite a few times but this is the first time I’ve tried the full breakfast! It was good; we especially loved the creamy, fresh avocado and the wonderfully made pork sausage (crispy on the outside, juicy inside). Coffee here was decent, we had the flat white but I found it not strong enough and too milky :-( but then again, I like my coffee rich and strong in flavour.

Had the common man full breakfast ($27) and it was amazing. Hands down the best full breakfast I’ve ever had in Singapore for brunch - the price tag is much higher but I’d say it’s well worth the price. I’ve never been a fan of full breakfasts for brunch because I always felt that many cafes serve very average big breakfasts, with lacklustre ingredients not worth mentioning. This full breakfast was worth every penny though, because every part of it was made painstakingly - the ‘baked beans’ were house-made chorizo baked beans that tasted so so fresh, the back bacon was unlike anything I’ve tasted before, really juicy and the portions were huge. The portobello mushrooms were so huge and juicy and so well done, and the vegetable rosti was a really nice touch. I really loved the service and ambience here as well! The queue was really long on a Saturday morning though, so do come prepared.

I’ve always known one man coffee for their very affordable brunch (think prices under $15 and nett!) and their cozy interior. Now that one man is on burpple beyond, even more reason to go check out their brunch offerings! I had the truffle croissant while my boyfriend had the fried chicken burger (just look at that bun to fried chicken ratio) and both were pretty good and supremely value for money. I’ve tried the gashouse eggs before and they’re decent too! Coffee here is pretty good as well.

I love the interior and the ambiance; it’s located in Chijmes so it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll and a good cuppa after. I’d say it was a little pricey though, I paid $7 for a small cup of black cold brew which was good, but not exceptional.

This may sound simple, but it was amazing. The cheese was so gooey and thick, and together with the bread it was so good and flavourful. The tomato dipping sauce/soup paired really well too.
