Its signature Nasi Lemak Tower lived up to the expectations with the spread of quality ingredients. The short rib beef rendang on top was tender and delicious, while the thick layer of Otah at the bottom made the dish even more satisfying. Together with the chilli, achar, crunchy peanuts and ikan bilis, this was a wholesome dish that justified for its higher price.
We also had their premium fish soup with rice and crispy puff rice. This was light, flavourful and totally worth it with the large pieces of fish that were fresh.

Finger licking good ribs that checked all the boxes. Sticky, sweet balanced with the right amount of smokiness

A scrumptious Japanese rice bowl in the CBD!

Kabuke is pretty much hidden away from the bustle despite located right smack in Telok Ayer Street. Located on the second floor, the compact establishment can host people at its bar counter as well as a couple of group tables.

It offers a couple of rice bowls in the range of $15-20 to attract the lunch crowd but I opted for one of its signature wagyu bowls, the Kabuke Pleasure Bowl. On the menu, it’s priced at $58 but thank goodness for Entertainer, it’s now just $29 a pop thanks to 1-for-1.

What can I say but that I licked the bowl clean? The Australian wagyu strip-loin had a seared exterior leaving a pink tender centre. The uni tasted sweet and fresh and was decked with a slip of caviar. The bowl included a nice hefty chunk of foie gras. The onsen egg and ikura coated the Niigata Koshihikari rice well and goes well with the truffle shoyu.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good a bowl this was. Will definitely be back if I’m in the CBD!

His first cafe - “The Hangar” on Arab Street may not exist any more but the exuberant and very tasty flavours that I had loved about the food @pavskiiii served there, can now be found at @burnclubst, his brand new casual cafe-restaurant alongside Ufit on Club Street. That was where I suggested to my friend @aikbengchia we go for our lunch, which he readily agreed.
I ordered a few dishes for us to share, and this was one of them. If you have ever dined at #TheHangarSg, you might recognise it. Renamed most aptly as “Roasted Pork Noodles” ($17), it showcases slow-roasted, handpulled pieces of meat which are a major head-turner in tenderness and flavour. They meet their match in the eggless kolo noodles tossed in a fierce chilli oil dressing. A poached egg and sautéed mushroom salad join them in the big bowl. Strewn across the top as a finishing touch are fresh parsley, spring onions and mint. So shiok!
Honestly, I am thrilled I get to savour this dish again.

This time, I got something different!! The soup is made from small dried sardines and soy sauce. Very rich in flavour! Still a little too salty for me but authentic japanese food are just stronger in taste no? The noodles were springy(!!!!!!) and egg was veryyy nicely done 😭 even the chashu is on the softer side!! Most places i tried sell chashu that are hard and just simply overcooked hahaha but this one is different! I am glad to try it though it's only after contemplating for a year lell.

That’s how good this plate of homemade fettuccine with red shrimps and uni butter sauce is. The homemade pasta is fabulous to begin with, bouncy and al dente with a fabulous resistant bite to it. Then there’s the generous amount of sweet, plump and moist Argentinian red shrimps that’re cooked juuuust right. And then you’ve got the silky rich, buttery and briny uni butter sauce tying it all together, with just a touch of citrus and earthy chives to lighten it up. It was so good. My friends would tell you how I desperately tried to get every bit of the sauce in my spoon, and I’d say I was that close to licking the plate 🤭

Spicy and fragrance stir-fried basil chicken served with an egg and rice.

Cured meat, truffle oil and a devilishly good trio of gouda, mozzarella, scamorza are piled onto toasted milk bread. Conceptually simple but executed to perfection. It was so good we ordered two portions

This brand hailing from Hokkaido are famous for their obanyaki. 😍⁣

This mochi one is crispy on the outside and bounchy + stretchy on the inside 😍 Goes well with the fillings though the chocolate was a little too sweet still and overpowered the matcha. 🍵 ⁣

Moving into a brick-and-mortar shop space at Everton Park recently, The Better Half serves up specialty coffee and a wide variety of cakes and bakes in the quaint neighbourhood, though with limited seating both indoors and outdoors.

Being one of the items which had caught our attention while skimming through the variety of bakes and cakes on display at the counter, the Gula Melaka is double-layer cake that features Gula Melaka Sponge, Gula Melaka Avocado Buttercream and Toasted Almonds. Really liked how the cake was not overly sweet; the Gula Melaka Avocado Buttercream is the main driver for the flavours of the cake here — the mellow sweetness of the Gula Melaka with its deep, earthy undertones completely matched the buttery smoothness of the avocado-laden creamx while the Gula Melaka sponge was rather light and fluffy. Despite its height, the Gula Melaka Avocado Cake is pretty manageable; a cake that is not too dense nor sweet and comes even with a herb-y (rosemary?) note that helps to cut through the slight tinge of sweetness to keep things interesting and providing a harmonious contrast of flavours. A space we would most certainly step in again for a quaint setting with satisfying cakes and good coffee; that is also pretty much depending on luck hoping that there are empty seats while passing by the small space...

Head on down to @madmexsingapore to have your fix. Their food is made of real ingredients and has a small amount of preservatives, oil and sugar added. AND the best thing is their guacamole is made in house by hand everyday and it’s so good!!🥑🥑🥑

We had the beef Quesadilla with melted cheese ( Gosh that was good) and the naked burritos which was generously filled with ingredients. Thumbs up to their guac and spicy picante Habanero sauce..
