Undeniably one of the best chilli crab in Singapore. We were lucky enough to be able to snag a 1.7kg mud crab - which was so humongous! Biggest crab I’ve ever seen in my life.

I was also blessed enough to enjoy a huge claw that was as big (or even bigger) than my hand. Meat was firm and tender at the same time. For people who hate crab meat that disintegrates into a sloppy soft mush - this is for you. The meat quality was very impressive - a balance between a nice firm bite and a tender meat.

Chilli crab sauce was sooo good. Bean sauce and the ever-classic egg were also infused into the chilli sauce, making it eggy and savory at the same time. Not the usual chilli crab sauce which is usually very one-dimensional (i.e. tomato sauce) and lacks depth.

Special mentions to the fried mantous. They were deep fried to perfection - super crispy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. I was happy to enjoy it on its own, but with the sauce, it was so satisfying. We enjoyed it so much that we had second servings!

Highly recommend. 🤗

Kudos to the authentic Hong Kong Cha Chan Ting vibes! Little imaginary travel out of SG in this spacious restaurant.

Roasted duck was pretty decent, would say that it’s reminiscent of the ones I had in London (aka Goldmine). Juicy tender duck meat, heavily marinated with spices. The taste of the five spice powder was pretty pronounced. But I have to admit, it was too salty towards the end for me personally.

Noodles were accompanied with minimal dark sauce (not visible on the photo itself). Initially I thought it would be tasteless but I was wrong because the sauce was pretty salty! However, the noodles were pretty dry and I had to douse them with the soup. Again, the noodles became too salty for me towards the end.

Overall, a pretty average plate of Duck Noodles. Nothing spectacular, but it was pretty satisfying still. Not the price though, I remembered that it was pretty pricey, but got to say the serving was pretty huge so it kinda made up for the price?

Everything tasted super homely. I thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes, which are mostly characterized by spices. I especially enjoyed the soup with meatballs - the soup was very tasty and hearty!

Definitely a place to visit with friends and family. One gripe would be the acoustic of the place, for some reason noise is echoed and reverberated through the restaurant, so might be hard to talk with your dining company!

Seems plain but boy it was so tasty! Topped with a crispy sunny side up (& brownie points for the runny yolk), we were told to mix all of the ingredients. The yolk provided a creamy and eggy base, alongside the dark sauce (which is reminiscent of 卤肉饭). It was an intensely fragrant and tasty treat. The crispy pork pieces also provided an additional texture and were really tasty as well. Recommend!

Didn’t quite enjoy this dish as much as I wished. I’m a fan of roasted pork and mee siam, and this had high hopes for this fusion. The mee siam wasn’t fragrant (it wasn’t fried with aromatics) and only an unsatisfying amount was stuffed into the belly roll. The sauce was also disappointing - it was overwhelmed with coconut milk, which made the sauce too heavy! It wasn’t like the typical meesiam sauce, light & citrusy. The pairing turned out to be slightly odd and not complementary. :(

Looks unassuming, but the fried rice really packs a punch! There’s an abundance of ingredients - prawns, mini scallops and crabs. It was very fragrant and infused with wokhey. Worth a try if you have burpple one for one, but otherwise pretty pricey for a fried rice (even with the ingredients!)

First impression: Looks like fried tofu
Upon biting into it, the floury chewy rice cake got me wanting more. It’s not overwhelmingly floury and just the right amount of sweetness. I particularly enjoyed the chewy texture. The skin was crispy and addictive as well — and also adding a crisp texture to the chewiness! The sweet brown sugar sauce and peanut also complements the rice cake.
It was a light yet satisfying dessert to end the meal!!

My favourite roasted meats place. All of their meats are on-point and worth every buck. (Even though the prices are above average by the kg) but this plate was VERY reasonably priced.

In this picture is my favourite combo - charsiew and shaorou. The charsiew is glistening with the char sweet salty sauce, and charred to perfection. And tell me you can see the juiciness of the meats!! Really balanced proportion of lean meat and fats too.

The main appeal of the shaorou is the crackling skin — even my friend could hear how crispy it was when I was eating it! Same as the charsiew, the juice and the fat-to-meat proportion is perfect. Have no idea how they do it but it’s always so consistent. Must try.

And, the chilli is also v v fragrant and complements with the meats with its tangy and spicy flavors. Oh and the sauce on the rice is SUPER good w the rice too!!! Wished they gave me more sauce.

Hor fun was really packed with wokhey. Fish slices were really fresh and tender. I really appreciate how they weren’t stingy with their taughey - really adds a crunch to the horfun. Many San Lor Hor Fun I’ve tried are really salty and MSG-laden, where I’ll always have to drink a lot of water to wash the thirst down. But this horfun surprisingly did not induce the same effect even though it was super tasty.

YUMZ. One of the best san lor hor fun hands down!

The smell of fresh pandan in the nasi lemak rice engulfed us first. Soft and pillowy rice never fails me. The drumstick was incredibly crispy and tender and juicy. The chilli was so fragrant and I love mixing it with the rice. The achar is one of the best I have - crunch cucumbers and pineapples and peanuty tangy sauce.

What a happy supper 😄

OHMY these were one of the BEST sotong I had in my life. They were ridiculously soft and fresh. I’ve never had sotongs this fresh!!!! And it was lathered with a generous amount of sambal which was super delicious and fragrant. It’s not overly salty or MSG-packed. Could really taste the effort into this handmade sambal paste. Lovely pairing with my 🍚!!

My visit at the one Michelin starred peranakan restaurant was pleasantly kickstarted by these fish crackers.

Crispy and tasty, yet not fishy or oily. Serves as a tasty snack with the sauce as well! Would totally buy a big pack of it as a daily snack hehe
