Bendemeer Market and Food Centre
One of the blessings in disguise when I am working from home during this Covid-19 period is the discovery of Healthy Yong Tau Foo stall (#01-34) at Bendemeer Market and Food Centre. I have been eating this for lunch for 4-5 days each week. The ingredients are fresh and big (50cents per item and generously packed with fish paste), the fiery chilli packs a punch and I finally found another YTF stall that allows customers to add white vinegar to their YTF - goes really well with the chilli! Just when you think it canāt get any better than this, a sinful dash of lard cubes is added for that extra oomph (maybe not that healthy afterallš). I will definitely miss this when I return to office, so I am going to spam this while I can!
This is the best beef noodles I had in Singaporeā¤ļø Toa Payoh Hwa Heng Beef Noodle is actually located in Bendemeer Market and Food Centre (#01-01) and the dry mixed beef noodles with beef tendons ($5) is the bomb. The gravy is robust and flavourful and the amount of beef, beef balls, innards and tendons given is super generous for the price point. The beef tendons literally melt in your mouth because they are that soft! There is really nothing to nitpick for this delicious bowl of goodness, except for the fact that you probably need to queue for at least 30min during lunch hoursš¤Ŗ
The Sarawak Kolo Mee ($4) from One Ton Mee at Bendemeer Food Centre (#01-09) has all my favourite elements: springy egg noodles tossed in a light lardy sauce, boiled and fried wanton and braised minced meatš Pretty wallet-friendly for the generous portion too!
