Caffeine Fix
Head down to under-the-radar spot in the basement of Far East Plaza the next time you're out for that post-lunch coffee break. Beans here are roasted by Compound Coffee Co. (the same guy who used to run the show at now-defunct VXX!), so you can count on an ultra smooth medium-bodied drink. As a bonus, $1 from every cup of coffee goes to charity.

Tucked away in Queenstown, this small but quality roastery doles out some of the best cuppas around the island with a side of knowledge. Run by second generation roasters with heart for the trade, Tiong Hoe calls out to those equally passionate about drinking it. Come on Sundays, when they feature a single origin brew of the week. If not, order the Latte ($4.50) — delicious and served in quaint ceramics.

Fairly new to the scene, this micro-roastery raises the game in the East with stellar cuppas. The Vanta house blend featuring 50% Brazilian and 50% Columbian beans is smooth and robust, making for delicious coffees whether you're having it black, white or even cold-brewed. Backed against the wall, the spaced-out seats are great for catching up with a close friend.

Dishing up good coffee, cosy ambience and friendly service, this Lavender Street newbie checks all the right boxes. There's no rush here — the bar does the concept of slow coffee justice with relaxed vibes and a small menu of just five blends on rotation. Get them to recommend a Filter (from $6), or order the White ($4.50) for a small, creamy dose. They all come in incredibly sultry, nice-to-hold cups.
