In fact, it’s Japan's Number 1 Kaiten Sushi chain.
Sushiro makes its debut in Singapore (and South East Asia) on Aug 19 at Tiong Bahru Plaza. It offers a mind-boggling variety of dishes (over 100) and most of it is priced at $2.20 a plate.
I’ll save my opinion on the food for my column, but if you’re planning to visit, be adventurous and try combinations that sounds bizarre. I found those to be the most exciting!

It’s an expanded menu of hot dishes and the signature carbs.
PS: the Dempsey outlet also houses Plank Sourdough Pizza.

Misstamchiak mentioned this in her roundup of best wanton noodles, and Hed Chef recommended it in an article for Straits Times Food, so it was an easy decision. Also, it was just opposite my gym!
Perhaps because I asked for less spicy, the chilli sauce was weak. Bland even.
But the lean char siew and wantons were flavourful.
And while I asked for extra wantons, it was only $4! Very good value!

So, ta da!! The Hakka noodles tossed in pork oil was the able foundation for the meats. The char siew was nice and fatty (probably too fat for most, but i did ask for it) and a surprisingly disappointing roast pork.
It’s not the usual standard but the noodles made up for it, although now I kinda wish I had the patience to queue for the fish soup.
Now I must complete my Mission for this long weekend: Cendol, prata, briyani and anything with lots of cockles or pork lard. PS: carbs consumed during a public holiday or vacation doesn’t count. .

The menu has been tweaked its menu, with a variety in stocks (i recommend the Over The Top Coriander, which looks scary but it’s damn yums) and a wide spread of decent dishes (admirably because it’s a Buffet). But best of all, it comes with a mala Xiang Guo with lobster or a mala Fish skin. And the ma is legit!
The price is not scary either: It starts from $66 and only available for dinner.
Can’t wait to return!

It’s actually quite good, and is available at all 24 outlets in Singapore. It’s also one of the cheapest Impossible burgers around, selling at $14.90 with fries and coleslaw.
More good news for those trying to go meat free: Swensen’s said it’ll be introducing more items soon!

A few favourites missed the mark (the mentaiko belachan pasta was actually tepid) and a new dish I tried - the Cray Roll - was void of flavours.
BUT the Kaya, Coffee Butter remains as good as remembered. I am all for butter, and that touch of coffee just made it better.
And their coffee is impressive, as usual.
The times I tried the new menu were good, so let’s hope Sunday was just an exception. 🤞🏼

Next best thing is to cook for myself, although I would do a 1000 lunges right now for a crispy prata!
PS: but, oh, what a sprinkle of cayenne pepper can do to lift a dish!

There are so many things to buy - like nuts, kombucha, soaps, tea, laundry power! - and you just buy as much or as little as you want.
I bought bags of nuts and a keto granola, plus loads of other stuff. Ironic that The Source is Australia’s largest zero-waste bulk foods retailer, and I’m going bonkers shopping!
But I really do love and admire their philosophy of zero packaging and using only what you need. We need more of these concepts here.
Never mind - I promise to finish everything I bought. In fact, some of the nuts have already been “used”. Oops!

PS: they are opening a flagship outlet at Great World City, then a smaller grab-and-go outlet at Raffles Place. And delivery will start soon.

Thanks to my visit to Brinda’s, my keto is effectively over hahaa. But I AM SO HAPPY!

Likes to eat. Hence, fat. IG: @weeteck
