Want To Try
This was good at first, but became really jelat at the end sadly. There were prawn and crabmeat pieces inside which was really good (and different from most other mac & cheeses elsewhere)! Only order to share I guess, because it can be a little too heavy on the palate.
Pop by this lunch bowl spot along Cecil Street for quick and easy lunches around the CBD. Their Build Your Own Bowls ($8.90) includes a base, protein, three sides, one topping and sauce of your choice. On proteins, opt for the crunchy and flavourful Baked Dory or the tender Chicken Breast to go with good-for-you Japanese brown rice or aglio olio fusili. Top that with the creamy and smooth Broccoli Purée, which comes highly recommended by the community.

Taking over the former premises of now-defunct Boca and the former spot of The Coconut Club, Belimbing Superstar is a new establishment that is run by the same folks behind The Coconut Club, which had since moved up to a new space at Ann Siang Road. Offering Peranakan dishes in cai png style, patrons would walk-in to receive a number tag and get their seats before making their orders at the counter — all items available are placed in full view behind a glass panel; all labelled with the price stated near the bottom. Drink orders are to be placed once seated, and both food and drinks would arrive almost concurrently, with rice served alongside with two gravies; all to be had with the dishes.
The Babi Pongteh was an item that we found pretty homey and satisfying; the stew featuring chunky pieces of pork, carrot and potatoes — a Peranakan staple. Really enjoy the savouriness of the fermented soy bean sauce; a flavour that is really comforting while the potatoes and carrots carry a soft bite — did not require much effort to chew, while the chunky pieces of pork was cooked to retain some bite in order to carry that fibrous meaty texture which gives it a good chew. Despite how it seems to be extremely easy to bust your budget here given how ordering works here, our order raked up to around $33.00 for 5 dishes whilst also including drinks and dessert (Cheng Tng) — pretty affordable when split between two. A place to visit for some comforting, home-style Peranakan fare that is just straight-up non-pretentious; just skilled cooking at its very best.

Used Burpple Beyond to get the truffle hound, fries and milkshake. Note that you don’t usually get to pick a hot dog with Burpple Beyond but was able to do so as there was a power outage and the burgers were unavailable (good job to the staff for calling us ahead of time as we made a reservation and being flexible to offer us this alternative). The set was $32 (without the 1-1). The fries were ok but not memorable and was served with bbq sauce. Tip is to ask for chilli sauce as they do provide actual chilli (think coney dogs) which was a nice surprise. We chose a beef hot dog (as opposed to chicken) and it was a good quality hot dog. The truffle sauce is nice but wish there was a bit more evenly covering the hot dog. The bread used was not a typical hot dog bun and not to my liking as it was slathered in tomato ketchup. There was also some mushrooms but they were small and few in number so didn’t do much to enhance taste or texture. The winner for me was the milkshake. It was thick (which is how all milkshakes should be done) and tasty.
The portions are generous but on the whole I thought $32 was a bit steep to pay for a meal although would probably consider patronising again but only with the Burpple Beyond app.. or maybe just to get a milkshake ($10).
Our top pick goes to prawns in garlic oil. The prawns were crunchy and the flavourful garlic oil is good for sopping up with toasted sourdough. Psst, the shells are off the prawns - in case you are thinking if you have to peel them. Also, not to miss mushroom croquettes were the crisp and creamy-centered croquettes. Everything is better with browned butter. Browned butter makes humble cauliflower tasted a lot better, non-veggie lovers might love it too! .

Avo Toast | Pesto | Baby Spinach | Dill Infused Feta | Poached Eggs 🥑🍞🍃🍳
Hands down the best avo toast ever!
$16 for the avo toast, additional $6 for poached eggs. A little pricy on the poached eggs side but the taste made up for it!
like the name, this dish consists of the above mentioned ingredient, as well as Ikura. The foie gras was sandwiched between the scallops which was bent in half, so it looks like a mini kung ba pao. While the ingredients used was fresh, I didn’t like that the scallop was torched till it was rather dry. It was still sinfully indulgent nonetheless!

Perhaps we chatted and took awhile to slice the bread apart. Was a little disapppointed when it didn't explode like how I saw on IG. But the laksa was really good. Very pricey for a few forkful of laksa so maybe can the bakery sell a full serving instead?
The Fettuccine al Granchio ($29.90) was delicious. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente tossed with a creamy tomato crab meat sauce. I also like the friendliness of the service staff and the family run vibe of the establishment.
The cold al dente pasta is lightly seasoned with some aromatics, spring onions, etc and served with extremely fresh raw prawns, sea urchin and briny caviar. Absolutely redolent of the sea 🌊

Simple, elegant and delicious dishes like this are why @garibaldisingapore deserves the Michelin ⭐ it's just retained. One of the best Italian 🇮🇹 restaurants in Singapore
