Hong Kong Delicacies
You wouldn’t always expect the best steamed dumplings out by a theme park. But that’s what I found here at the JW Marriott by Ocean Park Hong Kong. Filled with carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, water chestnuts and celery, these tasty dumplings (HK$54) have the thinnest skins that did not break despite the ample fillings. Thumbs up!
Nojo originates from San Francisco but has found its way to Hong Kong, home of some of Asia’s most finicky diners. This fried chicken dish (agemono) is so flavourful I’m still thinking about it 4 days later. It is purportedly marinated overnight in sake lees, ginger and soy. It’s then fried to a perfect crispness, while still retaining its juiciness. HK$88. A must!
It’s not easy to get goose liver sausage in Singapore, let alone a delicious version of it. So when I ended up having lunch at Kam’s Roast in Jewel today, it was a no-brained to order this dish. Especially since my Daughter doesn’t eat goose so ordering a dish of goose would have meant lots of leftovers. I nearly finished this on my own, there were just four slices left. A must order, whether dining alone or with a group.
