Their 𝙀𝙜𝙜 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 (~$2) were bombz though 🤪 Crumbly crust and wobbly custard in the middle, this is hands down my fav place for egg tarts

𝘽𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝘽𝙪𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙎𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙀𝙜𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙥 (~$9.50) came with a well scrambled, layered egg, really oily and juicy chicken and sweet crumbly bolo bun 😋
.
Thought that the bolo bun could be more buttery on the inside (was slightly dry!) and the chicken was way too oily fr my liking (pls don’t clog my arteries) 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

Stopped by after many friends told me I had to compare this to my fav eggtart at Taicheong, and here’s my verdict: I’m still gna be loyal to taicheong 🤪
.
Clearly, this isn’t the most fair comparison: both are good. Tong Heng’s Eggtart (~$1.90) has a more flaky light crust which is perfect for a snack 🤤 while Taicheong’s leans towards crumbly. .
Custard wise, Tong Heng’s was more solid and less wobbly, and could do being served warmer. 🍳 But BOY. This eggtart was GOOD.

Had the Pork Ribs (~$3.80) which was sadly a disappointment — it lacked any flavour and was strangely chewy 🧐

XiaoLongBao (~$5 for 7 pieces) craves satisfied!!! There was still a queue at 2pm which I thought was surprising 🤪
.
XLB skin was slightly thick for my liking, though the soup and the pork was well seasoned and generally tasty! They weren’t the best XLB I’ve had Nor were they super stunning but definitely good to curb those XLB craves especially at this price point! 🌿

Baked salted egg yolk bao (~$5) was done differently from the normal soft bun, crispy and slightly crumbly!! Salted egg yolk was kinda oily though :-( 🥚
.
Fish porridge (~$6.10) and Hong Kong porridge (~$7.10) generally tasty and consistent, fish portion was generous! 🐟🐠
.
And omg the Crispy Chee Cheong Fun (~$4.70), so guilty bc of the crispy bits but worth the calories 😭❤️ the crispy bits added so much texture to contrast the silky smooth Chee Cheong fun 😝

Char Siew Bao (~$3.90) was done suuuuper soft and moist, and the ratio of meat to bao was rly 👌🏻👌🏻 Meat was generally very lean!!
.
Har Gao (~$4.60) and XiaoLongBao (~$3.90): I’m generally v choosey with these and I like those here, not too much skin and enough meat 😛😛

Pandan egg tart (~$2) didn’t have much of a Pandan taste and I probably wouldn’t have noticed unless I really tried to look out for it 🥧 Crust was good and crumbly but stick to the normal egg tart!

Imma huuge fan of the Tai Cheong Egg Tarts (~$2) but never went down to eat at their Cha Chaan Teng till today! Upon walking in, it really felt like those in Hong Kong, a lil cramped and even the plates used were similar 🍽🍴
.
Scrambled eggs with toast and ham (~$9.90), wouldn’t say the eggs were scrambled, since it had more of a shape, similar to tamago/omelette style! But it was soft, not too salty and HUGE!! (The pic really doesn’t do the size justice). 🍳🥚Texture wise it went well with the Super sooooft toast, which was really fluffy. Ham was average but managed to pull the dish together and give it more of a taste. 🍞🥪
.
Buttered toast bun with condensed milk (~$2.50): Didn’t expect much from this considering the price but it was SHOOKENING!!! Toast was crispy enough at the sides but soft on the inside, making it easy to eat, condensed milk didn’t overpower the bun and the butter was salty enough to complement the sweet 🥖😋 I loved this so much 😍❤️

Ig @goodfomood

Hong Kong Egg Tart (~$1.50) was freshly baked and so... amazing... warm, wobbly, soft and custardy, damn it gave taicheong a run for its money 🍳🥧
.
Crust was flaky at the sides and more crumbly at the bottom, and they didn’t skimp on the egg custard at all! 🌿
