Nestled in the heart of the Gardens by The Bay, Hopscotch invites diners to indulge in a delightful blend of comfort and sophistication. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of trying their fish and chips, duck confit, and a refreshing cocktail.
Starting with the Fish and Chips, the presentation was inviting, with a perfectly golden crust enveloping the flaky fish. Each bite offered a satisfying crunch, followed by the tender, moist flesh within. The accompanying tartar sauce was a delightful complement, adding a zesty kick that elevated the dish. The hand-cut fries were crispy and seasoned just right, making for a classic pairing that did not disappoint.
Next, the Duck Confit was a showstopper. The duck leg was cooked to perfection, its skin beautifully crisp while the meat was rich and succulent. Each forkful melted in my mouth and the accompanying red wine sauce added a vibrant freshness to the plate. The subtle hint of herbs in the dish showcased the chef’s attention to detail, making it a memorable experience.
To wash it all down, I opted for one of their signature cocktails - Secret Remedy. The blend of flavors was refreshing and perfectly balanced, enhancing my dining experience without overshadowing the food. It was a delightful way to end the meal, setting a relaxed tone for the evening.
Overall, Hopscotch exceeded my expectations with its well-crafted dishes and inviting ambiance. Whether you’re a fan of classic comfort food or looking to explore elevated flavors, this place is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and try more from their enticing menu!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Market Bistro, a cozy spot that combines a laid-back atmosphere with an impressive menu. My meal was a delightful journey through flavors, featuring prawns, beef, calamari, and a decadent chocolate pie for dessert.
The prawns were a standout dish. Perfectly grilled, they were succulent and bursting with flavor. The seasoning was spot on, giving a nice balance of spice without overpowering the natural sweetness of the seafood. They were served with a creamy pasta sauce that elevated the dish even further.
Next up was the beef, cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Each bite was tender and juicy, showcasing the quality of the meat. It was accompanied by a rich red wine sauce that added depth to the dish, making it incredibly satisfying.
The calamari was another highlight. Lightly battered and fried to golden perfection, they were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Served with a spicy sauce, the dish was both comforting and refreshing. It’s the kind of appetizer you could easily make a meal of!
Finally, I indulged in the chocolate pie, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Rich and cream, every bite was pure bliss. The presentation was lovely, garnished with a dollop of ice cream that added a nice touch.
Overall, Market Bistro impressed me with its vibrant flavors and relaxed vibe. The attentive service only added to the experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu!
Stepping into Hong Kong Cha Kee feels like a delightful experience. The café is bustling yet cozy, with traditional decor, and the warm scent of familiar Cantonese dishes wafting through the air. The chatter of patrons adds to the vibrant atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for both couples and families.
The staff are friendly and attentive, balancing the fast pace with genuine hospitality. Our server was quick to recommend popular dishes.
I started with the Seafood Hor Fun , which were beautifully charred. The shrimp were fresh, complemented by a hint of soya sauce.
The highlight, however, was the Coffee. The aroma took me back to the days of my time having breakfast with a few pals in Hong Kong. “You can leave Hong Kong, but it will never leave you” -Nury Vittachi

The phrase “Fruits de mer” (Fruits of the sea) came to mind when we first laid eyes on the dish. The prawn noodles we order are all about celebrating the best seafood one has to offer. From the richness of the broth to peeled plump prawns and sweet succulent shellfish, Zhup Zhup signature prawn noodles has a touch of modernity to cater to the young while still keeping the traditions to cater to the experienced. It was indeed a fruits de mer in a bowl, a gastronomic sensation in a quiet corner of Macpherson.
Drop by this casual dining spot on Tanjong Pagar Road for authentic Korean grub. Order their famous Jjajangmyeon ($12, $2 for more noodles) for soft noodles bathed in a luscious sweet and salty black bean sauce. Otherwise, opt for the soupier but equally delicious Jamppong ($14) that sees noodles in a spicy seafood broth that is incredibly addictive. For larger groups, fill the table with their delectable Ginseng Chicken Soup ($18), Seafood Spring Onion Pancake ($20) and Steam Egg ($5). To avoid waiting, come during off peak hours.
