Babasan really does fusion really well, everything I’ve tried’s been real impressive

Belly Roll Mee, $13 (front)
Category: Main
Rate: 10/10
Visual: 10/10
Wow Factor: 10/10
Review: The Chefs really did it!! Their take on the classic Porchetta using Mee Siam as the stuffing, is really something else!! Very interesting dish, sounds odd but tastes Amazing. Is a must try when u come here!! This fusion food is so well thought out and really different from the rest!!

Oversized Salmon Skin, $11 (back)
Category: Appetiser
Rate: 10/10
Visual: 10/10
Wow Factor: 9/10
Review: another must try! Didnt think getting salmon skin for an appetiser would’ve been worth it but after the chef’s recommendation and trying it for ourselves, the crabmeat Ikura wasabi dip is what rly makes this dish different from other restaurants. (Tho the salmon skin itself was pretty oily)

Buah Keluak Wok Hei Fried Rice with Chicken, $10 (left)
Category: Main
Rate: 9/10
Visual: 8/10
Wow Factor: 9/10
Review: first time trying a Buak Keluak dish so reviews are not comparing to other Buah Keluak dishes but the wok hey is real! Every rice grain was nicely coated and an interesting taste!

Huevos Carbreados, $14 (I think) (right)
Category: Appetiser
Rate: 8/10
Visual: 9/10
Taste: 100% resemblance to Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fries version
Wow Factor: 8/10
Ingredients: Homemade chilli and garlic mayo, chicken, onsen egg, sloshed over shoestring fries.
Review: The fusion of the earthly ginger tgt with Chicken with fries is truly amazing!! Am a fan of the Hainanese Ginger taste as it makes eating a bowl of fries feel less sinful. Note that having the chicken and sauce on top of the fries make them soggy quickly so don’t spend too long taking photos, eat!

Ended off with Dessert (not included in BB)
Yuzu Muah Chee, $12
Category: Dessert
Rate: 7/10
Visual: 9/10
Ingredients: Oversized yuzu infused muah chee with soy bean and sour plum powder, served with coconut icecream
Wow Factor: 7/10
Review: Claims it’s good for 2 but Actly more than enough for 3 cause having dessert after all that good food, and muah chee in general’s also pretty filling. Really a fan of muah Chee but it did get a bit gelak towards the end. The flavour profile’s also pretty confusing with all the infused flavours...

Overall, the mains are their specialty and the food is really worth travelling down for! Will come back to try the others

Le bf didn't quite enjoy the vodka cubes but I thought it is a creative approach instead of dousing vodka into the entire curd. Not as refreshing as the pineapple passionfruit, but you can still taste sour notes from the light curd. Recommend this if you want a little bit of everything- sour, sweet, alcoholic. #burpplebeyond

Worth it with Burpple Beyond!! The Jap rice was more sticky and vinegar-y than usual but the thick sumptuous bites of salmon sashimi was real blissful!! The other bowls were also very reasonably priced, with the Chirashi Bowl starting at a solid $10. If you’re still not satisfied, walk down the hill to the next (BB) Jap Restaurant nearby!

Crispy Deep Fried Chicken, sufficiently thin and thoroughly cooked through. Would recommend the mash and coleslaw for sides. Super worth the money at ~$5 per pax 🤓💛 after BurppleBeyond. do note that the chicken slab is thin rather than thick and the mash potato’s also pretty generous. Wouldn’t recommend the pasta cause it comes in a small portion and it’s also pretty dry. If you’re craving some mid-week unhealthy fried chicken, this is the place to go. Will come back for it!

Thick sumptuously cubed Sashimi, the Chirashi Bowl has quite the spread of sashimi but lacked a tad bit of freshness? Could have been just my bowl but enjoyed it nevertheless. The mentaiko sauce though was amazing. Not sure if it was because we were super hungry but we felt like it was quite a small portion despite getting regular sized bowls.

Eating Açai from here 3 days in a row and I’m not complaining!! Always look forward to a Large bowl of Açai for dinner, the açai itself is of pretty thick consistency toppled with fresh fruits 🥝🍍🍌 of which some of them were sour, so I’ll prefer the ‘Nutty Party’ 🥜🎉 flavour over the ‘Triple A’ any time. For the sauces - pick almond for a healthier, earthy and more balanced choice cause the açai itself with Banana is already on the sweeter side, and cookie butter (lotus brand) if you have a sweeter tooth.

Super thick cuts of sashimi served generously, loved the octopus and squid(?) sashimi. Topped with really flavourful ebiko special to this Izakaya, what else can u ask for? Definitely worth the travel down to Holland Village! Will return!

A (Ful)Filling dinner spot 🥰 There isn’t really any space to sit unless u get the seats by the counter but DA AÇAI BOWL IS SHUPA WORTH AND YUMZ! Only con is that each redemption is for double portion of the same item of choice! Will recommend chilling at the open space @ level 1 if u visit the duo branch!

Came here to celebrate my dad’s birthday and the waiter gave us a complementary free scoop! Rly nice ppl here :-) the flavours were really interesting, especially liked the pistachio and 70% chocolate - which sent my sensitive mother sneezing away. The waffles ($5) wasn’t so worth the money, not fluffy as ild have liked it to be. But the atmosphere was really nice, really convenient for those who commute around Bishan.

Great mix and generous amounts of ingredients - mushrooms, and liver!! They cook it perfectly :-) The tangy mee pok’s well coated with the sauce too 🥰 Overall the vinegar taste leans toward the strong side but I like my Bar Chor Mee that way. However do expect longer waiting time during lunch crowds (1pm), as we waited about 30-45 mins after landing ourselves some seats and ordered. Atmosphere wise, the shop’s partially air-conditioned with seating arrangements good for groups of 6. If not, do prepare to share your good times and intimate conversations with strangers!

Had their Ravioli ($25) and Parma Pizza ($22), served with a serving of complementary sourdough bread. The Ravioli Bowl was perfectly baked, with a crispy crust on the outside, soft on the inside and the ravioli itself had a perfect ratio of skin to filling! Super worth the 15 min walk in from the bus stop (from Kent Ridge Interchange)/ 5 min walk from the nearest bus stop even for a bum like me. The sunset view was rly A+ as well. One of the better Burpple Beyond deals out there.
