Western
For starters and sharings, we had
- Porchetta $9
- Traditional stuffed Roman Schiacciata $9
- Pizza $18
For mains, we ordered
- carbonara $22
- tagliolini $22
- grilled pork chop $22
For drinks, we had
- Cioccolata $6
- latte $6
Overall, I would say the starters are really good. The Schiacciata is very rich in truffle sauce while the Porchetta is very crispy and fulfilling. However, while the pizza is melted with tons of cheese, it is okay compared to the other 2.
For the mains, I find the carbonara to be flavorful and I like the tagliolini except for its small portion. Pork chop is a no no, very dry pieces.
Cioccolata is literally chocolate at its liquid state. Holy. Thick and rich for sharing.
Great ambience and great italian food! Many other dishes to try. I will come back again!

From the same folks that bring you Baker & Cook, Plank serves up artisanal pizzas with their own unique creations. A rustic look and feel, the thin and soft pizzas were full of flavours and the crust was nicely charred and crispy - and the caramelised garlic was interesting. Personally just go plain as the pizza dough and tomato sauce was good enough as it is. π
Seems like a dish that everyone orders here, and we totally get why! The rosti has a nice golden crisp from pan-frying, and the potato is shaved quite coarsely, giving a good bite in every mouthful. However, the sausages were rather salty, and the oil from them must have seeped into the rosti, making the rosti quite salty as well.
The steak was simply seasoned with salt and served with my choice of whiskey mustard which was really nice. After enjoying two starters and the pita bread with roasted garlic (yums!) and butter, the four of us could not finish our own portion of steak. The service staff promptly offered to doggy-bag our remaining steak which was a nice touch.
Finally had some time for a longer lunch, and decided to head to The Carvery to try the meat buffet.
The beef and lamb was fabulous! They even had different types of sea salt that would go with the meats - charcoal, red lava sea salt, mixed spices sea salt.
Personally, I liked the mixed spices sea salt the best - it went very well with the beef and gave it more texture and flavour.
The service staff were prompt and alert to ensure my water was topped up; they took the time to speak with me - asking if Iβve tried their carving station and even explained how that they dry-aged their beef for approximately 2 weeks before they slow roast it, then roast it in their charcoal oven.
In addition, they had 2 types of goat cheeses, which is rare for any restaurants or buffets. It may not be everyoneβs top choice but I loved it So thumbs up on this!
Their pork knuckle is usually for dinners; and on weekends, they would have 2 different types of beef available. This probably explains the difference in the buffet price. A buffet for the meat lovers!
IKEA has definitely glorified Swedish meatballs so how can I give this signature dish a miss at Fika right? π
.
Featuring 8 beef meatballs, baby potatoes, drizzled in cream sauce with a side of lingonberry jam, this plate of Swedish Meatballs ($19++) definitely made a hearty meal! π·π·π· Especially liked the pickled cucumbers which added a refreshing element to the plate & making the meats less heavy. π
.
Marinated & handmade in-house every morning, these meatballs were tender & of the right texture - not too coarse nor too fine, not too dense nor too loose. ππ»
.
Somehow, I still prefer my meatballs savoury, but I do enjoy an occasional dip in the sweet jam to spice things up a little, else wolfing down 8 meatballs in heavy cream sauce can get a little monotonous. π€£ This is better shared in my opinion! β
