A List Of Places That Are Worth The Calories
Not usually a fan of mixed grills as the meats tend to be overdone and dry but this mixed grill set was simple and well executed. It was full of flavour, chicken was juicy, pork chops were tender and the veggies were well seasoned too. They’re pretty generous with their portions too so be prepared, I had cravings for their tempura squid so I ordered it anyways.
An artfully messy bowl of beef donburi topped with juicy pink tender beef slices coupled with creamy cubes of foie gras, truffle, garlic chips and caviar. Deliciously decadent, I could only wish there was more rice, overall portion size was kind of small but still I would pay for that perfect and soft beef. Went on eve of National Day so didn’t get to use my Burpple Beyond but would definitely visit again with such a good deal ☺️

Tucked in the basement of Golden Mile Food centre - A freshly brewed cupppa coffee with traditional Robusta beans kopi powder but with a twist, using an European Espresso Machine.
The brew: Creamier and silkier than your usual hawker kopi but still packs a punch with it’s roasty aroma. If you prefer a more bitter or acidic brew, this is probably not for you.
A beautiful pairing of East meets West coffee and at $1.90/cup, it’s easy to see how Kopi More has managed to capture both the hearts of the young and old in the heartlands. Worth a shot after lunch if the queue is not too long.

An unassuming, homely Japanese restaurant just off of the sidewalk. I had the ramen with Lunch Set D (add. $3.90), comes with 3 gyozas and a hot tea. The broth was rich and savoury, noodles were thick and cooked till al-dente. The star of the dish was the thick-cut slice of pork, it was melt in the mouth soft with a subtle char-grill around the edges. Definitely, joining the list of my favourite ramen joints.
Japan’s Largest Kaiten sushi chain opens in Shaw. What’s immediately apparent was the spread - amazing choices, not easily available at all other sushi train chains. Most of the time, people go for sushi train restaurants to satisfy a craving and because of it’s value for money. Sushiro surpasses all of those expectations with ramen options which come with Tonkotsu and Shoyu broths, a good variety of fresh seafood - think more tuna cuts, surf clams, fresh scallops, monk fish, seabream, uni, surf clams, spear squid etc.
One would expect that with great variety comes some compromise in terms of quality but we were proven wrong. My favourite was the Giant Scallops. They were plump, juicy and fresh paired with creamy wasabi for an instantly shiok thumbs-up. This is one combination that is sure to keep you coming back for more.
Good value for money sourdough pizza served in a hawker setting. Loved the straightforward menu and chewiness in the pizza dough
Fried food tend to be crowd pleasers but these beef cubes were not a disappointment either. Beef was well seasoned with hints of black pepper, chewy and tender. No overly beefy smell, melts in your mouth with every chew. Definitely qualifies as above the average stir fried ginger beef with rice zichar as this one has a nice exterior glaze with some char aroma that adds to the overall bite. Will consider trying the Armed Forces Set (chicken, squid, beef) next time!
