Mapo Don ($10.50 nett). Tofu was silky, but was a bit more q than your standard silken tofu. Cooked in a thick and spicy mala sauce drizzled on chewy pearl rice, this was a great rainy weather lunch ๐ soup was surprisingly delicious too, could taste hints of fried egg?? Will be back to try their dandan mian
Sis brought us here bcos it was a โhomely cosy restaurant selling the best naansโ n she hit the nail on the head! What a hidden gem. Their butter chicken n garlic naan were my fav ๐
Super value for money gem in Toa Payoh heartlands!! More fish and thicker slices than Hankee @ half the price
Thick, creamy n fragrant soup filled with generous chunks of fish slices. Easily the star of our zichar dinner!! This filled our cold bodies with warmth on our rainy Tuesday evening ๐ฅฐ
This underrated teppanyaki joint greets you the moment the escalator brings you into the Food Republic foodcourt. It serves up hot piping teppanyaki at affordable prices - black pepper beef set (-$15) and grilled salmon (~$20). Been here twice bcos the partner loves his food smoking hot ๐ฅ
Walked 500m from sweechoon bc it was too packed on a PH afternoon. What luck ๐ fav dishes were their liusha bao that came with generous piping hot liusha n was covered with crispy boluo bao coating (pictured), XO fried carrot cake packed with umami (pictured) n the thick creamy century egg porridge that could feed 2 pax (not pictured)
Look at the size of these oysters in our orhlua ๐๐ this very local teochew restaurant serves up authentic and affordable zichar. Situated at the void deck of a hdb, this place transported my parents back in time as they wolfed down yummy old school dishes
But very worth the quality!! Chicken was tender and juicy, rice was not too oily and I love that it had bits of ginger. The crispy fried tofu came with tartare sauce and is a big yes for me ๐๐ป
Colleague brought me to this unassuming shophouse restaurant for a rainy day lunch. The $12 nett lunch set included 1 soup, 1 meat, long beans (fixed), sweet and sour prawns (fixed), 1 drink and 1 bowl of rice. All the dishes were flavourful and came with strong wokhei. Piping hot Asian food perfect to combat the โ๏ธ
This hidden gem along Boat Quay serves up fresh and affordable chinese delicacies at generous portions. Total bill for 5 pax came up to just SGD 115, and we were stuffed!! No BB deal but theyโre running an in-house promotion for $28 ็ค้ฑผ (UP $42)
Was very impressed with fish-noodle ratio & the thickness of the fish slices!!! The bittergourd and ginger made this a very flavourful bowl of fish soup. Perfect for a rainy afternoon ๐ฅฐ
