Great to share with friends using this 1-for-1 single scoop on waffle! ($12 total!!!)(Would’ve been $10 but churro waffles are extra $2) I got speculoos on churro waffle and cookies & cream on maple waffle. The coconut shake ($8) was so good too.

Worth it with burpple beyond! Got the premium ice cream flavour, roasted pistachio which was more expensive and the maple cinnamon flavour. The pistachio ice cream was really creamy and rich, not too sweet. The cinnamon ice cream tasted similar to the waffles and was pretty unique. Waffles were crispy and coated with cinnamon powder and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Ice cream and waffle went really well together.

This cafe along Smith Street specialises in Japanese sweets and mochi from the classic Warabi Mochi Kinako ($9.90) to Matcha Soft Serve ($4.80). With the Beyond deal, dig your sweet tooth into their Chestnut Mont Blanc ($9.80) with chestnut cream, cassis compote and sponge and the 'kawaii' Kuro Kuma, a chocolate brownie dessert with caramel cream and chocolate mousse made to look like a bear. Other must-trys include the Soft Cheese Cake ($8.80) and Crepe Matcha ($8.80) for the matcha lovers.

Heard about Clap Cafe at Waterloo Street — a new cafe that had opened their doors pretty recently just beside Kurasu, being in its soft launch for family and friends on 15 May 2021; just a day before the measures for COVID-19 Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) were implemented, where dine-in would be disallowed from 16 May 2021 to 13 June 2021 (tentatively). Apart from specialty coffee, Clap Cafe also serves up loose leaf tea, fizzy concoctions and cakes as well — quirky beverage options include Dirty Chocolate and Pumpkin Latte. Found ourselves going for the following:

- Basque Cheesecake;
- Maple Pecan Tart; and
- White

Wasn’t too much a fan of their Basque Cheesecake; lacks that oozy, melty texture that I would really like — their version was one that was somewhat loose and airy, missing out of the rich, velvety and near-jelak sinfulness that one often associated with the cake. In comparison, the Maple Pecan Tart fared much better — the pecan providing a soft crunch that reveals a nutty note that goes so well with the sweet fragrance of maple that is not overly saccharine beneath the top layer; all that against the buttery tart layer that actually holds up to the fork really well. A dessert that would work well with the Black; it’s flavour profile being pretty complimenting to the roasty aroma of well-brewed specialty coffee. The White was well-pulled here — a medium-bodied cuppa with an earthy and roasty note; a cuppa fit for a great mid-day perk-me-up.

Felt that the cafe’s high ceilings make for a great hangout over coffee with an environment that is well-lit and airy once they open for dine-in operations. But in the meanwhile, do give Clap Coffee a try if one is in the area — tough times it is now especially for a new entrant into the F&B scene; would really wish that more people can get to know of their existence for how there can never be one good coffee place too many around.

Checked out the new 100labs; a new cafe which had opened its doors at Sultan Gate pretty recently — they were still on soft launch last week, but are looking to release more items which includes more hot items soon.

Considering that there were only pastries, waffles and ice-cream for food options, we went for the Oomph! Waffles and got ourselves the double scoop Gelato to pair with the waffle — really enjoyed how the waffle was crisp and plush with an alluring buttermilk aroma; very aromatic and pretty easy to have without being particularly dense, which was wonderfully done. Our choice of gelato were the Pistachio and Taro Yam & Coconut — both creamy, smooth and sticky; the former being a safe flavour that carries a good nuttiness without being overly sweet, while the latter was almost like a mix of flavours akin to yam paste which was earthy yet refreshing with a balanced sweetness. Must say it works out pretty well as a hidden spot for ice-cream that is slightly away from the busier Haji Lane/Bali Lane district of Kampong Glam!

House Special Chicken Pot $17.90
Numbing & Fiery Chicken Pot $17.90
Spicy Chicken Cubes $13.80
Hot Plate Prawns $14.80

Total: $71+

Utilised 2 vouchers for 5 pax. Ordered 2 Chicken Pots (Small) and 2 mains and about 5 add-ons into the 2 pots. We preferred the spicy chicken pot over the house special as its more fragrant and the spicies really gave our taste buds a strong kick! Portion of chicken in both pots were alright and we find the side dishes are on the pricier side, like one portion of instant noodles cost $3.90. For the mains, the Spicy Chicken Cubes, the ratio of the dried chillis flakes to the small chicken cubes was like 15:1, but chicken was well fried and flavourful. I like the sauce of the Hot Plate Prawns, and it looked really appetitizing with the colourful condiments. Overall, Beyond made it a fairly good deal especially when dining with friends since the price is on the higher side.

Somewhat similar to kaoyu, where you can choose the gravy and other add ons. Highly recommend the Spicy and Fragrant chicken pot (it's not very spicy 😊)! Burrple 1 for 1, with additional add ons, is sufficient for a group of 4 pax.

A must to visit @ppp.coffee (formerly known as Papa Palheta) when spending a day at the newly revamped @funansg if you ask me ☕️ #mustdrinkcoffee⁣⁣

In photo: Papa’s Iced Coffee ($8.80). Very satisfying iced white latte that comes with light homemade coffee jelly to sweeten up the whole deal. ⁣⁣

Prices here are a little steeper compared to CSHH but I am just glad I can get great coffee in a commercial mall 😍😍⁣⁣⁣

Situated right in the heart of Kampong Glam, Tabbouleh draws a crowd from the many tourists looming around. The rice is similar across both dishes - long grains flavoured with traditional Lebanese spices. The chicken mandi ($26.50++) is supposedly cooked underground! We found the chicken rather dry, so the tangy sauce on the side was a welcomed addition. We aren’t big fans of mutton, but were pleasantly surprised by the lamb mashwi ($27.90++)! The charcoal-grilled cubes of meat were very moist, and so flavourful that the usual gamey taste was masked. Savoured this the most! Tabbouleh may be a good stop if you were bringing a friend around town, but otherwise too pricey even with Burpple’s 1 for 1.

Decadent rich luscious dark chocolate - what more can one ask for in a cake! 😌😌 Just as good as I remembered it to be, though the one at Dempsey might be a little less dry, but still very very satisfying with every bite! Perfect with the dark chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream 👍🏻👍🏻 PSA selected cakes and tarts go for 50% after 10pm so definitely drop by for some after dinner desserts 😋😋

These are hands-down some of the best ang ku kueh ($0.90-$1 each) I’ve ever had! Each piece is massive and packed solid with filling. They have a wide variety to choose from and they are just the right level of sweetness! I liked yam and peanut the most, but my favourite part was definitely the chewy & pillowy soft skin!!

Artistically messy bowl of seared beef, caviar, truffle flakes, garlic chips, onsen egg and some secret sauce! AMAZINGLY fragrant bowl of everything delish 😋
Extremely value-for-money with Burpple 1-1!
