For $98 the variety and quality should be much better that of soggy pastries and mediocre sweets. The top tier sweets were cloyingly sweet, second tier pastries cold, tough soggy and the bottom tier scones were crumbly and dry. Was there a need for two scones each? Perhaps an attempt to fill one up with their lackluster tea .
A complete rip off is what this set is.
Left the set half eaten, only redeeming quality is the ambience.
Never had a more disappointing dining experience. First up, mussels are smaller than my pinky. Understand these are a different varietal but they are ridiculously small it’s hard to taste the sweetness of the mussels, if any. Perhaps overpowered by the broth that was heavy in flavour (more saltish) but very watery - had to drink lots of water. The fries that came with it, fried till hard and crunchy not crisp. We ordered the truffle fries which had no truffle flavour. We even checked in with the staff if they got the order wrong as we thought the truffle fries were not served. What takes the cake was the exorbitant fee they charged to celebrate a birthday with a cake bought elsewhere. $25 to eat the cake in the restaurant. RIDICULOUS. It’s not like they had a cake option on the menu to celebrate it instead.
Service was poor. Complained about the fries, nothing done. Indicated in our reservation we were celebrating 2 birthdays, they could have given a heads up on their ridiculous charge, but nope they did not.
So many better restaurants with higher quality food in the area. Please do not waste a dime here. It’s not worth it, even with the 1-1.
