All The Taiwanese 小吃
Went to Isshin Machi few weeks ago on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded (read: lively and happening!!) Once again good standard taiwanese food done well. Noodles was super Q and soaked abundantly in the red chilli oil sauce; dumplings were huge and filled with crunchy prawns :9 Lu rou fan was good and comforting too! I am not a fan of the pork belly fats and I’m glad this bowl has a good ratio of lean to fat meat & meat to rice!!
Some pretty guud finds in the redhill neighbourhood! Here goes the food we gobbled @ Abundance!!
𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢 𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬 ($𝟗.𝟗𝟎)
Honestly this was SO GOOD I think my fav dish of the night!! The sichuan spicy sauce has a KICK with the vinegarish after taste - and it matches SO well with the AL DANTE CHEWY noodles and big juicy prawn dumplings!! Each bite was an explosion of flavours 💣🥰
𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 ($𝟗.𝟓𝟎)
This came in close for my fav dish. In picture was the four pieces and it’s the four measly but good pieces of prawn toast!!! I have never tried tried anything like this before- the outside was fried so crisply and yet it’s so juicy and moist when you bite in (with the prawn). I like that there’s the crunchie bits (waterchestnut?) that adds a different texture to the prawns :”) VERY NICE MUST TRY!
𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 ($𝟗.𝟎𝟎)
This was highly recommended by the other reviews - it smelt SO much like marmite sauce on our marmite chicken dish but with a sourish vinegar after taste. It got nicer as I ate more (friend E really didn’t like it...) but is def an acquired taste and fries were nicely fried! But... I prob will not order it again! 😅
𝐆𝐮𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐨 ($𝟔.𝟗𝟎)
We had to get a bun cos it’s aBUNdance right?! The entire bun was pretty huge and I must say the mantou itself was warm and fluffy and soft (good bread!). Pork belly was good too would love it’d there’s more sauce drizzled! A good kong bah pau but for $6.90? I’m not sure...!
𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐤𝐨 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐅𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞
This was OFF THE MENU!!! Mentaiko on fish was super YUMS - nicely torched paired with the well fried fish and their classic egg fried rice. Just thought it was a very unique pairing that worked well!!
Overall was a good meal and I will definitely be back for the dumpling noodles and prawn toast!!
Finally a visit to Salted Plum and i really understand why it’s so highly raved!!!! I enjoyed it a lot - we got braised pork (my favourite - the meat is so soft that it really melts in your mouth), fried chicken (has a sour plum kind of seasoning that was so yummy) and fried pork (my friends loved it so much). Overall burpple beyond made it so much more worth it!! Can be quite pricy without BB
