Japanese
On a nice Sunday I came here to try the Aburiya burger! It doesn’t just pride itself for its mains, but also the assortment of desserts here which has distinct tastes of Japan. The Aburiya burger was a fusion Japanese x western twist, with guacamole paired with tamago and sliced A4 Wagyu beef. The burst of flavour in each mouth was an accompaniment of juiciness and a tinge of sweetness, really lovely!
My first thoughts when I stepped in was: this isn’t just a normal Tzechar store - it was extremely “zhng-Ed” up, with a very modernised touch in terms of decorations as well as how vibrant the place is. Saw many people holding their reunion dinners there too, really makes for a comforting family meal together!
I’ve read loads about the wok hei of the food so I was really excited to try their signature dishes! Honestly their menu leaves you spoilt for choice, it has a slight modern twist compared to your typical Tze char store- but I eventually settled for some of their signature dishes.
The BBQ pork cheek was pretty special, both tender and lean - an elevated version of your typical Char Shao. The Singapore style chilli prawns was a unique adaptation of the usual chilli crab. But the mantou is a must to complement the flavourful sauce. Crunchy on the exterior, warm and fluffy on the inside. Each mantou was just 50 cents which had me yearning for more!
The prices are slightly steep for alacarte dishes, but regardless I’ll be back to try more variety! 😌
Who knew that ordering delivery for something as fancy as the Crab & Uni risotto could tantalise your tastebuds as much as dining within the restaurant?
I decided to try the crab & Uni risotto which was amazing! Let’s talk about the generous portions of the Blue swimmer crab,Uni, caviar, tobiko and ikura - the ingredients were all fresh and boy were they generous. Each mouth was filled with a different crunch and burst of flavours, the juiciness of the tobiko and ikura, the chunkiness of the crab and the sweetness of the Uni is as if you’re tasting the freshness of these ingredients right from the ocean. The mixed grain risotto gave an interesting bite with each mouth as well and certainly made me feel healthier. Will recommend!❤️ Enjoyed this dish so much.
This cozy and authentic Japanese sake bar hidden along Stanley Street impressed me with its good service, intimate ambience and flavourful dishes.
My favourite dishes were the charcoal skewers, which has many chicken, pork, beef and vegetable variations. I had the Tochigi Wagyu A4 (ribloin) and the Kurobuta Tontoro (black port collar) skewers, both of which were extremely tender and tasteful. I also had salmon sashimi, which was served in five thick and fresh slices - good value!
