Cornflake cookies ($8) ⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
Earl grey cookies ($8) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴First saw this on @singaporeliciouz and glad I got to try them! Fully agree that these bite-sized cookies are highly addictive and yummy, making for a great anytime-of-the-day-snack. The #cornflakecookie was our general favourite with the crispy cornflake bits balanced with the buttery cookie and having just the right level of sweetness. While the #earlgreycookies were also tasty and addictive, we found them a bit too buttery and would have preferred for the tea flavour to be stronger.

Garlic cheese bread ($7/2; $13/4)
⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴These Korean garlic cheese bread were so fragrant, we couldn’t help but bite into one right after opening the box 😂. They were highly flavourful, with a really strong garlic taste that left a lingering garlic aroma (probably not the best to eat before a date 😂). We liked the mixture of 3 types of cheese - cream cheese, parmesan, and mozzarella - that gave more complexity and richness. However, the cheese wasn’t the most evenly spread, and we would have preferred for slightly more cheese to balance the strong garlic. Texture-wise, we all enjoyed the soft texture of the bread that wasn’t dense while having a nice chew to them. While they were enjoyable at room temperature, we also enjoyed toasting them for a few minutes to get them warm. Another minor feedback was that they were a tad too oily for our palette. While these bread were well-executed, they weren’t particularly mind-blowing and are more comfort-style bread to make for a yummy breakfast/ afternoon snack
⚠️ These #garliccheesebread are halal ☺️

Mochi ($5/4pc) ⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
Madeline ($13.50/6pc) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
Mochi brownie ($7/3pc)
🍴Although visually they might not look like much, the taste and texture of these mochis were highly impressive and left us saying “wow”. They were super soft and chewy and weren’t sweet, with each flavour being delicious in their own right. The red bean was perfectly paired with roasted soybean powder, and sesame lovers would enjoy the strong black sesame mixed with crunchy peanuts and walnuts. The yam also impressed in its smooth yam flavour balanced out with desiccated coconut although we would have preferred if it had a slightly stronger yam flavour.
The #madelines similarly impressed in that were not too sweet, bigger than the average, and filled with Mochi that added a nice chewy balance. While we found the matcha and tea ones a tad dry, the classic lemon remained moist and soft, and was our favourite in its refreshing flavour. We enjoyed the Yorkshire tea for its strong black tea fragrance while the green tea one was more muted and as a matcha lover, would have preferred a slightly richer matcha > buttery flavour. They made for a great accompaniment to coffee 😋.
Mochi brownie. Note: there is also a vegan option available at $10/3

Mango Kueh salat ($35) ⭐️ 3/5 ⭐️
Cream cracker Kueh lapis ($22) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Was so excited to see these unique takes on local classic treats with a mango pomelo version of #kuehsalat (as opposed to the usual pandan coconut) and cocoa cheese cream cracker Kueh lapis. The Kueh salat tasted like mango sticky rice (really cool inspiration) and while the sweet mango balanced nicely with the slightly salty sticky rice, we found the texture overall to be too sticky and dense. Would have also liked a slightly bigger portion of mango:rice layer (although perhaps just having less sticky & dense rice might improve it overall). The mango could also do with slightly less sugar as we felt the sweetness to somewhat overpower the freshness of and natural flavours of the mango. Another minor point is our preference for the pomelo flavour to be somehow infused with the mango rather than having them atop as they fell off and dried out easily, with some losing their juiciness (although they did make a great pairing with the mango and rice). For the #kuehlapis, it was more of a tasty sponge cake (given that it didn’t have that many distinct layers) with good, balanced mix of cocoa and butter. Although we weren’t sure what the cream cracker aspect brought in, it had an overall yummy flavour, wasn’t overly sweet as some kuehs are and a soft, not overly dense texture.

Rum Tiramisu ($18.90/box)
⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
🍴Enjoyed this #tiramisu that was a delicious and well-balanced mix of cream, sponge, rum, and cocoa powder. We liked that it was just the right level of sweetness, balanced out by nice bitterness from the strong coffee, and vanilla-woodiness of the rum. Texture-wise, some of us found the cream to be a tad thick, and would have liked if it were less dense and creamier (note the more orange-y colour is from the use of Japanese pasteurized eggs) while others enjoyed the thickness. One feedback was that the sides had more cream, less rum ratio while the middle section had stronger rum but a wetter, moist sponge, and it would be more enjoyable had it been more evenly distributed. We would recommend eating this chilled as we found it even nicer when colder (placed in the freezer section for a few minutes 😅). It’s quite a good portion at 11x11x6cm, good for sharing among 2-4pax.
P.s. This tastes better than it looks; tried my best but taking photos of tiramisu is surprisingly difficult 😂

Mochi Cookies
Chocolate ($18) ⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
Earl grey ($19); Matcha ($18) ⭐️ 3/5 ⭐️
🍴Unique #mochicookies and what a suitable name because #datcookiepull. People have started adding Mochi to everything and it’s a smart move because it provided a very nice chewy texture to the crispy crumbly cookies (tip: pop it in the toaster/ oven for a few minutes to get that nice crisp). The general favourite was the signature Double Choc Chip with Milk Mochi that had a nice dark slightly bitter and char aroma and wasn’t overly sweet, nicely balanced with the milk mochi. The August (limited ed) flavour of Earl Grey with Yuzu Mochi had a nice balance of tea and floral aroma but was a tad sweet for our palettes while we found the Matcha & White Choc with Soya Mochi too sweet and sadly the sweetness overpowered the matcha flavour (personally would prefer bitter richer matcha). Both the earl grey and matcha flavours also had a tad too much vanilla aroma that we personally didn’t enjoy (but others might). Do note that one can choose their type of chewy mochi - milk, soya or cookies & cream - for the signature flavours while the limited ed mochi flavor would be fixed. However, we found the mochis to all be similar tasting (oops) and would have liked for a stronger yuzu aroma as we belief that would have elevated the limited ed cookie to a new level.

Original Madelines ($15/6pc) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
Mini madelines ($7.50/bottle) ⭐️ 3/5 ⭐️
Cookie (to be launched) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴These beautiful looking madelines were soft with a nice crisp outer layer from the sugar glaze. However, in general we found them too sweet and would have liked if they were more moist & airy (although I did only eat them the next day so not sure if they would have been less dry when eaten fresh). Flavourwise, we really enjoyed the earl grey lavender that had distinct and well-balanced floral and tea aroma (& actual dried lavender leaves). The chocolate in the chocolate orange madeline overpowered the citrus flavour and while it might suit chocolate lovers, we would have preferred a stronger orange flavour. Comparatively, we found the mini madelines to have a denser and drier texture and the matcha was too sweet and not strong enough (as matcha fans we would have preferred more rich and bitter matcha 😅). Their soon to be launched chocolate walnut cookies was enjoyable with a nice crispy texture and crunchy walnuts but we would have liked if they were a bit chewier and a tad less sweet.

Chiffon cake ($17 for 6”) ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
Luna 7 ($14.90 for 5)⭐️ 3/5 ⭐️
🍴Loved the fluffy, soft, and airy texture of their #chiffoncake that managed to remain moist. Unfortunately, the family didn’t quite enjoy the flavour profile of the signature lychee rose tea chiffon cake. It had a distinct lychee aroma, along with actual lychee pieces (such a joy biting into a chewy sweet lychee) and dried roses. However, we felt that the lychee essence tasted artificial (a bit like canned lychee) and was a bit too overpowering (couldn’t quite any rose tea flavour). Given the great texture of the chiffon cake, would still be keen to try her other interesting and delicious-sounding flavours like earl grey lavender, cendol, or even their savory options like honey bacon chiffon cake in the future. While it is supposedly best eaten fresh, I also highly enjoyed it chilled (right out of the fridge). As for the Luna 7 #chocolatechipcookies, texture wise it was more crispy and (highly) crunchy which might suit some palettes but we would have preferred for a more chewy balance. The 75% dark chocolate also wasn’t as dark as we expected and on the sweet side. That said, the treats by cakeoclock are highly aesthetic (would make for a great gift) and the seller allows for customizations of sugar level upon request. For dark chocolate lovers, they have also recently released a 99% (!) dark chocolate cookie for those who might prefer darker & bitter chocolate like me.

[Gift] Bika Ambon ($35)
⭐️ 4.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Been seeing this on my feed a lot lately so you can only imagine how grateful I was to receive this. Their #bikaambon had an amazing bouncy and chewy texture, retaining an airiness and lightness. The top and bottom were nicely caramelized, adding to the overall texture. When chewed slowly, the eggy and coconut fragrance comes through and the family couldn’t help but keep reaching for more pieces (3/4 was gone within 30mins)! We were obsessed that it wasn’t sweet or oily at all (as expected of a honeycomb cake) which allowed the natural flavours to shine through and evidence that they do not use any artificial stuff or preservatives. However, we did think that the coconut and pandan could be slightly stronger, especially for those who prefer richer flavours. We found it best eaten fresh although fridging and resteaming it the next morning got it back to its chewy texture and oddly made it a tad sweeter.
