9 August is Singapore’s National Day, and the whole month of August is the biggest occasion for everyone to indulge in the nation’s favourite pastime - eating All pictures are taken by me. And I pay for all my food unless otherwise stated

Butterknife Folk extended their National Day flavours till 6 Sep

Made using coconut milk, sweet potato, candied yam and mochi
.
The flavour was on point. It tasted like the actual burbur cha cha
.
Coconut milk provided a rich yet creamy flavour
while the sweet potato and candied yam gave a nice textural depth and sweetness
.

Made using fresh cempedak

The cempedak was really creamy and rich in flavour
.

Made using coconut, peanut, ikan bilis brittle and sambal
.
The flavour was on point. It tasted like the actual nasi lemak
.
I could got bit of spicy kick from the sambal and both the peanut and ikan bilis gave a nice textural depth

Made using barley pearls, rock sugar and candied winter melon
.
The barley had a nice refreshing flavour while both the rock sugar and candied winter melon gave a rich amount of sweetness

The flavour was on point. It tasted like the actual pulut hitam dessert in most dessert stalls

The raspberry coulis provided a nice sweet berry flavour

Made using chilli crab paste, real crab meat and fried mantou
.
The flavour was on point. It tasted like the actual chilli crab
.
I could got bit of spicy kick from the chilli crab paste and the crispy mantou bits gave a nice textural depth

Packed with the familar nutty goodness from the satay sauce followed by the subtle chicken flavour and spicy aftertaste
.

Inspired by local breakfast favourites, FATCAT created this by incorporating real youtiao bits into soya milk gelato
.
The gelato was really thick and smooth which indicates a good gelato
.
However the youtiao bits were quite frozen and hard which didn’t compliment the soya milk gelato
.

Full slab tender baby back ribs marinated with classic satay spices and flame grilled for that charred smoky sweet flavour and served with pineapple satay sauce

Featuring a charcoal pastry skin, it is filled with chicken, carrot, peas and potato cooked in creamy white sauce
.
My second favourite out of the 4 NDP Edition Series
.
The creamy white sauce compliments the chicken, carrot, peas and potato filling
.
And I unknowingly devour it in a minute
.
