Bread, Pastries And All Of The Flour Based Stuff
Popped by to grab a few croissants since it was on the way and was SHOCKED AT THE PRICE IN STORE OK LIKE WAT da hECK DAMN EXPENSIVE. This Hojicha Cruffin was $6.90..... holy cow itâs not even big but I just took it anyway because the other flavours available didnât appeal to me. And frankly speaking, I canât justify the price paid lah like itâs just too small to be priced this high and doesnât taste amazing leh. Itâs nice lah like the hojicha filling was not too sweet, had a good bitter-roasted flavour and was smooth. However, the cruffin isnât buttery enough as Iâd like croissants to be but itâs very crispy!! I have to give it credit for itâs crispiness cos I bought this like 3 days ago LOL and it still tasted fresh after reheating so itâs fine and kinda surprising. I also got the Almond Croissant ($4.50) which also remained crispy when I sneaked a bite from the fridge HAHAHA nothing rly impressive la if u ask me........ ć€Ș莔äș and the location ulu so I wouldnât specially travel down again :( if I were to compare this to Keong Saikâs cruffins, I would prefer KS in terms of taste (and price/size too)!!
Bolo Bun ($2)
I thought this was pretty subpar lel especially for something thatâs from HK and apparently famous then why do the elements not gel together as one?? The crust and bread tastes separated like they werenât made together LOL Iâve had a fair share of bolo buns and this is not it. Itâs edible lah but why the heck would I queue for this??? Crystal jade does it better ha ha.
Egg Tarts (Cookie Base) ($2.20)
I absolutely hated the custard, I had them the following morning after heating it up in the toaster. Why is the texture soooo jelly-like???? Not soft nor melt-in-your-mouth, just huh? Was it because I reheated them? The tart was pretty good though, itâs firm, crumbly when bitten and buttery. Thatâs prolly the only good part of it all :(
Was expecting better for a HK-originated joint with much improvements needed.
